Anyone running a ninja 300 rear wheel?

Like the title says, anyone running a 300 wheel on their 250? If so, thoughts? Impressions?

Thanks!

Nobody has put the 300 wheel on their 250? It seems like the extra .5" would be nice to have.

No one may have put a Ninja 300 rim (in particular) on a 250, but they have put other 4.5 inch rims on one. http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=71108

I think you will have to wait to see, the 300 is still pretty new and it will take awhile for crashed pieces to get to ebay and forums.

@rojoracing53 has I think a 300 rear tire on his 250, I don't think he put the whole rim on though?

without a doubt

So this thread wasn't quite clear enough for me to spend hundreds of dollars on a 300r rim. Will a stock 300r rim bolt right onto a 2010 250?

Ping @Peanut_EOD; I thought he had swapped the rims out and it was reasonably straightforward.

Correct. The 250 and 300 wheels are interchangeable. The only thing that needs to be noted is that for the front wheels the 250 wheel spacers need to be used with the 250 wheel and the 300 wheel spacers need to be used with the 300 wheels.

thanks for your quote mate. some additional, vrossi rim has 6 fasteners for front disc brake. in order to install it on ninja 300r, you'll need to get 250r disc brake as new ninja 300r has only 5 fasteners for their front disc brake

aftermarket 5" wheel for ninja 300r does not fit ninja 250r as it's wider. need some modification. best option for ninja 250r is vrossi wheel set

I have a 2011 Ninja 250 and mounted a 300 rear wheel on it.

Strictly a "plug and play job."

It fits fine.

Will the rear 250 rotor fit the 300 wheel? Also what size tire are you running on the 300 rear wheel? Thanks for the help

Yes, the rear brake rotors are the same and can be bolted on without modifications.

I use a 140/70-17 Pirelli Rosso2 on the 4.0 inch wheel.

Did you notice a difference between the 250 and 300 wheel? Has anyone run a 150 rear tire on a 300 rim.

I would think it would work just fine. Been thinking of trying this myself. Im running and 140/70 on a 250 rear wheel right now with no issues. So with the extra .5" a 150 should equal out to be the same.

what is the point of using a 150 tire on a 350lb 35hp machine? you are giving yourself less traction

for what purpose? there are many "bests" depending on what you will use it for.

"best" depends on what you are trying to achieve. For me "best" is fastest on track and cheaply as possible. That would mean the stock 250R wheel is "best" as it is lighter, and can fit more than enough tire I need to maintain traction - and its free. If the "best" was fastest on track without cheaply as possible it would be one of the galespeed or marcheseni forged wheels
