Very bad to hear. May his friends and family find peace over the loss they have suffered. We lost a great member of the motorcycling community and one of our own.

I barely know EthioKnight but I remember the first time I saw him with the mohawk in that chair and had a good laugh.
I'm at a loss for words, everyone here has said everything I could better than I.

...Any of the locals, let us know if there's anything the community can do for the family.

I haven't been a member of this forum for long however trawling through some of the threads I noticed that EthioKnight seemed to be a pretty cool guy with an awesome looking bike.. When I initially heard about the accident I was quite shocked, and since then I had been thinking about him frequently. To log on and hear this news is horrible, like everyone else I was hoping he would pull through.

Rest In Peace EthioKnight, and my sincerest condolences to your friends and family. Ride safe everyone.

Is there any news on exactly what did happen? She blew the stop sign and then they collided? Is there any suit against her?
This is so heartbreaking. I rode Saturday and thought of Ethio, I first heard he was rear ended and I check and triple check my mirrors at any stop now.... It's such horrible news, I guess I'm looking for some good out of this.... :0( and I feel selfish for saying that. This is about EthioKnight and his family.

The swelling and pressure has greatly increased. From discussions with the staff yesterday, it seems the Neurosurgeon deemed any procedure either futile or harmful. This is a severe impact to his head. We can only pray that Alex can fight strong.
Careless is an understatement! But it happens more often than you think. Almost a year ago (August 18, 2011) A driver ran a red light, I was fortunate enough to see them and laid it down to avoid this type of thing. I was in flu gear and lucky. I got to walk away. But it shows you, ATGATT is so important. The driver in my situation fled the scene left me laying in the street. Insurance is important. Most drivers (at least in Florida) flee when they hit a motorcycle. I guess they figure killing a biker is manslaughter (felony) what is a hit and run charge if they get caught.

RIP Alex

This is not the place to discuss this but someone has to say it, there is never a good reason to purposely lay your bike down, ever. If you want to discuss it start another thread.

You are right about the discussing it here, however that being said (you are the one opening the discussion about it). Respectfully you are wrong! Laying my bike down that night and sliding away from it, 100% saved my life. Had I not laid it down the best possible outcome would have been only losing my left leg, and more than likely would have resulted in death! The decision i made, whether you agree with it, or not, was the best possible decision. And definitely saved my life. Infact I am sure thanks to that decision I was able to stand up and walk away from the accident, and ride another day.

Sorry that Alex passed, and back to the point of my original post. ATGATT is important, even in the gulf region where it is ridiculously hott!

I'm not trying to discuss it. Therefore no thread necessary. If you read my post you would see that it just explains how it happens often. Then that dude starts spouting off about a decision that I had to make make during that incident, saying there isn't a good reason to lay a bike down. But there was a reason to lay it down. A decision that saved my life. Thats all...
No one will ever convince me otherwise. End of discussion!

she ran the stop sign at 30-35mph
ethio tried to swerve out of the way but she was too quick.
ended up colliding with the front of her car.

i hope she gets jail time, and we get a pic of the horrible person behind bars.

i'm not sure if there is any legal action at this point
if i dont hear anything within the next week i'll call the DAs office and try to get the ball rolling.

RIP Ethio, I did not know him personally but saw his contributions.
My prayers go out to his family. As a father myself I cannot even contemplate such a loss, brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.
