missing screw?
On both sides of the ignition key switch cylinder is a little screw type thing that seems to rust often. Yesterday I ran my bike for a few minutes and was about to put some wd40 on a q tip to remove any surface rust on them only to see one was missing. I checked an online parts fiche which describes them as a torx screw that intalls from the bottom? Has anyone lost one of these? If so were you able to replace it without pulling the many parts out to reach it?

I have not lost mine, but they are rusted. Will WD-40 really take the rust off them?

Some WD40 temporarily does remove the rust.

The stuff that will banish rust is either Ballistol--available on line, or Corrosion-X, available in Marine supply stores. WD-40 is 90% Mineral Spirits with a light oil mixed in. I cleaned the two screws thoroughly, applied a dab of Super Glue to prevent the screw from loosening, and finished it off with a dab of black nail polish.

I lost one of those 2 things near the ignition switch that get rusty. At first I thought it was a torx head screw, but a closer look at an online parts fiched shows the 2 torx head screws come up from below and hold the complete ignition switch assembly. I can't find these 2 things in the online fiche as separate parts. The one on the left of my switch is missing. I think they might be rivets. Not sure if missing one will cause a problem with the assembly coming apart.
