Talking 150/60 REAR Tire Upgrade!

Hey guys,

just got in my Michelin Pilot Power 150/60-ZX17 rear tire today.. and I must say.. I CANT WAIT to get this tire on.

I've done my research, and I was debating whether to get a 150/70 or 150/60.. and I've heard that the 70 rubs a bit and I clearly do not want to re-modify anything. I heard the 150/60 is straight, and dont have to readjust anything.

As for performance, I doubt it will do anything. Probably gives you more stability. Anyways.. I'll fill you guys in later.

Damn, that new tire is huge! How many miles did you get out of your stock one?

the tire is practically new, the thread is still good.. i've only put about 3k miles on my bike. I do a lot of highway commuting.. and figure the tire upgrade will do me some good. ^_^

I have a BS BT016 150/60 rear tire and it just barely touches the chain guide. I removed the guide for now to gain clearance.

The BT016 is noted to be one of the smaller 150 tires, so I 'm wondering if the tire you're using (which looks very wide) will have fitment issues.

well, I have heard of others that have used that tire and no one, as I recall, reported any clearance problems.

I'm interested to see that tire installed. I've been looking at the Pilot Power in 150/60 as well. I'm curious about how much the sidewall will get pulled in. Please post pics when you get that on there.

Success!

alright guys. I brought it to the dealer a few hours ago and got my tire changed.

There IS PLENTY of ROOM.. Kim it did not touch the chain guard at all. The ride is definitely much more SMOOTHER, STABLE and very Comfortable! I recommend this to anyone who is thinking of going with a 150/60 rear tire.

watch out. it's not a good idea to mix construction tire types. the stock front tire is a bias ply and your rear tire is a radial.

I'm a believer in a 110 front tire. if you go 120, make sure it will fit before you buy.

Thanks for the pics. Looks like the tire isn't getting pinched at all! Fits very nice. Now I know what I'm doing when it's time to buy tires. I was looking at the Michelin Pilot Power in 120/60 front and 150/60 rear. I've seen plenty of 250's with 120's on the front and they seem to have plenty of clearance.

I heard switching to a bigger tire will decrease turning/cornering/leaning? Is this true? Do you feel any difference in your leans and cornering?

Please look at ninjette wiki for useful information and reviews on brand of tires, sizes and their effects on our 250 by fellow ninjetters. Very useful and informative.
