Tail Section seperating ??

Is this a common problem after adding the fender eliminator kit?
I bought the bike used - 1500 miles - '09

The two sections of the tail are seperating and the taillight is slightly forward of the proper position in the tail - the velcro tab are coming unglued from the top of the taillight.

Do I have broken parts?
Fixes or repairs?

Replace the velcro with new pieces and refit the light housing. Check out the Bike Monkey Integrated Light DIY and you will see how the velcro was transferred. Once the housing is back in the proper position, the separation should be reduced or completely eliminated.

What fender eliminator kit is it? Doesn't look like the Targa or Comp Werkes. Maybe a ghetto job by the original owner?

Do not know the brand of fender eliminator, but will ask old owner -but I don't think it's a ghetto job, he mention that he added the fender kit when we first talked, but who knows?
