[American Motorcyclist Association] - AMA Pro Dirt Track reigning champion Jared Mees
PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- AMA Pro Dirt Track Grand National Champion Jared Mees will serve as this year's honoree at the 2015 AMA Dirt Track Grand Championship, July 6-10, at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in Du Quoin, Ill. "It's a very prestigious time," Mees said. "You bring everybody from across the United States of America to Du Quoin, Ill. The best of the best... I'm looking forward to seeing who the next up and comers are. It should be a good time." In 2001, Mees won the AMA Dirt Track Horizon Award, presented to an amateur racer each year at the event who shows the most promise headed into the pro ranks. Since then, Mees has won three AMA Pro Grand National Championships. "It is great to have Jared serve as our honoree," said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. "He has a wealth of knowledge and experience, working his way up from the amateur to the pro ranks, and is always willing to share pointers with the current amateurs." Check out this episode of AMA TV to hear more about what Jared Mees has to say about being named honoree and his experience. "You've got to go there [to the AMA Dirt Track Grand Championship] and have fun," Mees said. "And I remember going there and having lots of fun racing as an amateur. The AMA has always done a phenomenal job running the whole AMA Grand Championship event." Classes and online entry are available now at: https://secure.tracksideonlineresults.com/flattrack/index.asp Amateur and youth champions will compete in individual dirt track disciplines, including half-mile, TT and short-track races.
