Stock, usually fill up around 220, but have gone as far as 250 before filling up.

Just to be clear. The miles above are when the bike starts to sputter and I have to switch over to reserve.

I need to switch over at about 190-ish and average about 50mpg. I must be riding too hard.

New JT 15 Teeth

I just installed my new JT 15 teeth front sprocket today and took it for a test ride. It is so much more enjoyable now to ride! With the stock 14t, the vibration from the 10,000 rpms @ 80mph was making my hands numb. Some riders report it being sluggish in lower rpms but I did not find that to be the case. Then again I don't race myself to every red light either. With the 15t, I was able to drop the rpms down to around 8500.

I got about 170 miles to a tank with the 14t before getting nervous and switching to reserve. I am anxious to find out what I will get now with the
15t riding mostly highway speeds of 70mph.

Most of my riding is highway commuting so I am also thinking of changing the rear sprocket to a 44 or lower.

I love my 15t setup...It made such a big difference in the ride...I think you'll see your mpgs go way up...

Stock sprockets. I get about 200 mi. when I reach for the reserve switch.

I weigh about 160 lb. with full riding gear on me, avoid highway riding whenever I can, I rarely use brakes.

I'm 185lbs in all my gear, with a mix of highway and main roads, gusty wind, and I use my brakes when ever appropriate...Regular gas...

I'll run it dry this weekend to see if I can get 250 miles...

With how mine is set up I was usually getting around 200-220 before fillup and hitting reserve between 190-210 depending on how I was riding that week. After getting it serviced here recently I've seen a drop in milage. Last night I had to hit reserve closer to 170 and this morning put 4.2 gallons in with 180miles on it. Not happy at all to see such a big change. I lost a good 10mpg from this service. I don't think I'll be going back to them again unless it's an emergency. Might try to get it dynotuned in the future.

Mileage Update

I rode my new 15T for a whole tank this week. I did not completely run it dry because I won't have time to stop and fill up this week but this is how it turned out:

222 miles
3.2 gallons to top off (If I recall, the main tank is 4 gallons so I still had .8 gallons left until I needed to tap reserve)
69.34 MPG

I did have to ride a little more aggressively than I usually ride (80+ mph) or I would be late for work a couple of days this week but otherwise, I think I could have gotten better MPG. Also, I am weighing in at 220lbs with gear so I'll have to work on that.

I am going to REALLY try to freeway ride at 65 mph this tank and see what I get.

Good luck with that.. Locally, the highways have 55 mph speed limit..

If I travel at the speed limit (in the right lane), I get tailgated, flashed high beams, angry drivers surround me.

If I travel at 65 mph, I still get tailgated and passed like I'm standing still..

Mhmm. I just got this bike and I have been riding it a bit hard, i'm just not sure if the mods can account for the fuel mileage. It seems a bit crazy to me.

try it again on a second tank and see if it comes out the same. I'm sure it will improve as you learn to ride the bike with a steadier hand.

how many gallons went in to fill it this last time?

Throwing my 15t sprocket on in a couple days. I commute all freeway miles @ 70mph. I haven't kept track since buying my bike a week ago. I weigh 150lbs. I use a tank bag with a jacket in it for padding. I rest the chin of my helmet on the bag and tuck in as tight as I can for the 1/2 hour ride to work on the freeway. My best tank on my last 250 ninja a couple years ago was 73mpg's without tucking at the same speeds. I expect to get 5 mpg more with the tuck @ 70mph this time. Shooting for a consistent 70 actual mpg.
