***~viet represent-%%
There aren't too many viet who ride around my area. I'm trying to see how many if any at all ride.
Give your place of birth, the yr or # of yr you've been in the states and your current resident. I'll start. I was born in Saigon (currently known as Ho Chi Minh City). I've been here since 1990 and currently reside in NJ. |

Alright, I guess this topic is not going anywhere.
Since there aren't too many viet let's include other ethnic groups. |

My wife is Viet, so I'm part of a big Viet family. She doesn't ride (yet), though.
The food is indeed fantastic.

Aren't we all on islands?? *checks map*
Haha really? People usually associate us with that banana ketchup stuff....I love coconut milk! Anyway, I'm almost certain Vietnam is full of riders that may or may not be part of this forum! Don't give up hope yet.... |

Food is definitely the best! My name should have been a dead giveaway (last name is also Pham...). Born in long khanh (village in the south), came over in 85 to Orange County. Moved to NYC the following year, lived there for 11 years, went to college in Boston and lived there for 7 years and now currently reside back in sunny CA these past few months.
Vietnam has ton of bikers...just not motorized. |

There aren't too many motorcycles in Viet Nam. The motor bikes they have there are more like scooters like the Honda Airblade or Honda SH.
From my understanding, a special license is required and the fee is somewhere around $7 million Vietnamese Dong (a month salary for most vietnamese). Also, one needs to join the national club in order to register the bike. I'm pretty sure there's a hefty fee to join. The cost of ownership alone is just too much for an ordinary person. A Honda Sh150 (150cc) costs $7000-8000 USD. Imagine what a Ninja 250r would cost. It would be nice to import the 250r into the country and be one of the few who own motorcycles. When I was back there in March, I did see the latest model R6. The rider was probably the son of a gov't official. |

Lucky you. Maine is swarming with "Houses of Pizza," at least one in every town, all owned by Greeks. The only decent place to get Vietnamese food is Portland; worth the trip though.
