Get their attention or make your escape?

... I like to put all my focus into making my escape. This is why...

(NSFW - loud swearing)

Link to original page on YouTube.

He was 2 metres in front of the car in broad daylight, revving his engine and wearing high-viz... and the driver still doesn't react.

Side note: I know I post a lot of crash videos. I find them incredibly useful. They show what you shouldn't be doing, and from that you can often deduce what you should be doing. They also, often show the sober consequences of poor street riding technique.

For balance, I recommend watching any of the following rider's videos if you want to see what I consider to be a very high standard of street riding:
https://www.youtube.com/user/RoadcraftNottingham/videos

I think there is actually more than one way to ride well on the street. I also think that some riding techniques/styles suit some riders and even some bikes better than others.

Gas it!

Whatever it takes to get out of the way.

My youngest son got his cycle license not long ago, and I like to show him videos like these (usually stopped just before something is going to happen) and ask him what's going to happen and what you should do to avoid it. I think it helps for him to see some of the bad situations unfold that may have been avoided with forethought, quick thinking, and skillful actions.

there's plenty of those. Snowcat is one of the more famous ones. He's damn good at video production, but he, uh... lacks wisdom (super polite version).

My preference would probably be to avoid the driver, then get their attention if that is at all practical or useful.

If they are that close and aren't paying attention it's best to hurry on out of the way instead of looking at them wondering what they are doing as they crash I to you

^ yeah: hopefully that rider will figure that out soon. Riding like that I'm pretty sure he's already used up his bag of luck.
