Ducati is the latest manufacturer affected by a recall on Ohlins TTX36 rear shocks with Transport Canada announcing a recall on the 2014 1199 Panigale R, 1199 Panigale S and 1199 Superleggera.

The 1199 recall follows similar recalls for the Honda CBR1000RR SP, Triumph*Daytona 675 and Speed Triple R and Yamaha YZF-R1M as well as a separate recall for aftermarket Ohlins TTX36. For all of these cases, the shock’s piston rod nut may not have been properly tightened for the piston to have full metal-to-metal contact. The nut may loosen, potentially resulting in a loss of rear suspension.

Unlike the regular Panigale, the 1199 Superleggera’s Ohlins TTX36 rear shock has a titanium spring. Titanium or not, the TTX36 shocks are subject to the recall.


Ducati dealers will inspect the recalled motorcycles and, if necessary, replace the rear shock absorber with a new component with a properly tightened nut.

As of this writing, a recall has only been announced in Canada but we expect the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to announce a recall for the U.S. shortly.
