Wtb: 08+ ninja 250

From the NY/NJ/CT area, willing to travel a bit to get it.

I have about 2,000-2,200 to spend, but willing to go a little higher for a really good value. I'm a college student so I'm on a tight budget. Let me know if you have a bike for sale from this area or know someone selling their 08+ 250 Thanks guys

Hope you have a little more than $2K-2200 because you'll need to pay for titling, insurance, maintenance, & don't forget protective gear.

I see so many people think getting into this sport is so easy (financially speaking) until they realize all the costs that comes with it; then crash and don't have the money to fix the bike and replace their protective gear only to see them give up the sport/bike.

I'm just saying.

Hope you find a bike in your price range & then some.

Yeah I definitely know about all the expenses. I have protective gear. I'm looking to buy the bike for that price and learn to ride and mess around a little in parking lots and then register in the spring. I will have the money for insurance and registering it in the spring, and I will know if riding is still something I am definitely going to continue. Thanks for the concern though

No, no...it's an inside joke. Nick has almost everything but the bike. We're anxious for him to get on board. That's all.

MSF? Gear?

if you have 2000 to spend for everything. that means you have about $1000 to spend on a bike. even cheap gear is expensive. titling cost money. msf cost money.

buy a cheap pregen to learn on for your first season. sell it for what you paid for it when you are done

I don't have track gear just a helmet, gloves, and jacket. For my application this is plenty. Its mostly my boyfriend's stuff I'd be using.

MSF in the spring, I'm going to learn a little bit now and if I think its something I want to continue I will MSF and get my full license, register the bike etc. in the spring. That's the game plan

If i were you id wait to buy a bike after you take the class.. You will get the feel for a bike and know if its something you want to consider doing or not after you take the class. Then you will know how a 250 feels, etc.. I never rode a bike, and didnt even know how to turn one on before the class.. they teach you all the basics you need before you hit the road. Just my .2c. I just took the MSF class OCT 7th this year and got my license.

Good advice, you make a valid point. My theory is buy in the winter from someone who needs the money and is desperate to sell & get a good price. Decide if its something I want to pursue by practicing a little bit in a parking lot. If so, I'm going to take the MSF. I definitely have little to no experience as well and would 100% DEFINITELY be taking that course if I decide to pursue riding.

However, in the chance that I decide riding is not for me, I wouldn't want to spend the $300 on an MSF course for nothing. So I'd rather decide that now. By the same principle I am buying a bike now for hopefully cheap with the likelihood of reselling for same price I paid. I wouldn't have to factor in registering/insurance costs because I wouldn't be doing that until after MSF in the spring when I decide if this is something I really like.

I hear ya!! I just dont want you to get scared for some reason since you have no experience riding without taking the class.. trust me, its worth the $300 (its $175 in houston) even if you dont end up liking it, you still have that knowledge for the rest of your life, if you ride behind someone as well. Idk if your boyfriend rides or not?? Well, good luck to you in whatever you decide! We do need more girl riders out there!!

The only '08+ 250s I've seen for sale in that price range are bikes you woudn't want...or couldn't ride. You're going to need a budget increase, or a model year decrease.

I disagree. I saw two 09 250's go for 2200. Its going to take some waiting and haggling but it will be worth it I think

I got my 09 for 2500 and thats only because it has/had plastic damage. (in the process of painting it and getting it nice and pretty.

If you see a nice one going for less than 3k something is wrong with it, its a scam or you could just be really lucky and the person really needs the money.

You could pic up a nice pregen for around 2200 but a newgen? I would be surprised.

I like your approach. Don't forget all the gear and wear it all the time. My MSF course suggested it but didn't emphasize it. If you look at crash pixyou'll be convinced. Here is the link to the bike above. I know it's not what you're looking for. Here is the link: http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/2801412159.html
