140/70 Tires

Guys,

Is 140/70 tire the way to go? I do 50-50 street & canyon riding. I saw a plug in the rear tire and want to replace both tires, so what is the tire to get? Also tread life is not an issue (too many bikes) Sorry if this topic has been beat to death!!

Welcome Byron!

If your interest in is max grip, then yes. The 140 size tire line has many more options of higher grip level tires, as well as a compromise of grip/milage options.

Many many opinions on this topic. Personally I run the bridgestone bt-45's and I absolutely love them. 140/70/17 rear and 120/70/17 front iirc. Great tread life, wet & dry traction and I enjoy the slightly larger look of the rear tire.

They are also not to expensive.

i used to race on pirelli street tires before moving to b-stone slicks. the pirellis offer great traction and longitivtiy. Diablo Rosso II, 140/70 and 110/70

I've had good luck with the S20 EVO as a track tire too. No clue how they'll wear on the street as they only ever see track duty, but amazingly good on the track for a street tire. They will allow you to drag as much footpeg as you can stand to listen to (and mine have been raised 1" from stock and feelers removed with front and rear suspension upgrades) at the track.
