I'd been considering a ZG DB for some time, and summer has convinced me not to get one. While I was in the US, I got to ride a bike with very good wind protection. Probably very nice in winter, but it was like a little furnace pocket behind the windscreen. Something that I'm not sure people consider is that better wind deflection helps take away the benefits of mesh gear and max ventilation during hot summer months.

Then I would say a DB's wind deflection is GREATLY over stated, and exaggerated. If your concern is moving air through mesh, a DB will not inhibit this. I ride in 100 degree plus (not by choice), and don't have a problem with this.

Yeah. I was on a touring bike, so there was not much air movement at all behind the huge screen and fairings. But it did get me thinking, don't I want ALL the air I can get in hot weather? Even if it is just an incremental decrease in air flow, that is one increment too much.

I don't think so.... some air movement is good, because it moves through mess, and helps evaporate sweat, but when it gets around 100 degrees, a lot of direct air is more of a furnace blast. If you like the DB, I still recommend getting it, and don't think you will have any problems with it. If you try it and don't like it, you can likely resell it and get [most] of your money back.

The DB does not create the barrier you see behind a touring screen, although they do have a bigger model that probably would start to see that.
I find the DB really has only changed that the air from the windscreen is not hitting me directly in the chest/upper shoulders now. Which gave me the feeling of always being pushed off the bike at 70+ (no tucking).
With the DB the air hit about the curve in forehead of helmet, made it a lot easier to turn my head to look behind me, saves some RPM's/gas. Also, In full tuck I can still feel air coming in from my visor, which stays cracked at defog level at all times cause the airflow sucks, but the air is not as turbulent as it was w stock screen in full tuck.

I really think the DB type screen is what should've came on the bike, it is that much better.

Are you saying this as a theoretical, or did you actually measure a difference?

theoretical, for now, testing in progress (1st tank w DB on).
But yes in theory, I should save gas because the airflow now feels better. ( I do not know if it surely is, but it seems so from a riders pov).

in fact leaving now for night ride

well here are some pics of the $12 aftermarket windscreen. shipping from china took 10 days and the windscreen fits pretty well. one of the corners is a tiny bit long so i'll prob sand it down. havent gone for a ride with it yet because its raining on and off today, but i will say it is considerably higher than the stock windscreen. heres some pics:

From those pics, it looks more bubbled than my Zero Grav DB... I'm not sure yet, but I think I kinda like that better, esp for that price!!

well if its any consolation im sure ur ZG doesnt need to have the corner sanded down to fit properly. the fit is pretty good, and yea for the price i dont mind doin the lil extra work. it IS very dark tho. u can see thru in the one pic, and i had no prob seeing thru it now... but nighttime might be a different story. still im pretty happy with the buy.

damn, that sux. i took mine for a long ride on 95 today. got up to about 90mph. the wind is def deflected ALOT higher than my stock windscreen. i had sunglasses on under my helmet so it was very hard to see thru the windscreen so in full tuck i had my eye level just over the windscreen. worked out well. i can see why racers use a clear screen tho, i wouldnt want to do 20some laps on a track trying to see thru the black

looks good tho and functions well. gonna have my buddy dremmel the one corner so its flush w edge of fairing tomorrow.

At least the pointiness (Is that even a real word?) protects from people leaning on the bike, at least not on the front.
