Honestly I think someone would have to buy it or something... cause you need to basically copy it and send it to me in .dwg or some other format.. I forget the other one. I just have the machine, not the knowledge to really use it yet

Because seriously it looks like I can cut it and powder coat it. I saw something on the bottoms to bolt on, and that would be the only thing a might have a problem making... I dont have anything to make something like that..

The easiest way to mass do a backplate would to make a template in a .jpeg, etc that you could just PM everyone and they could print and cut a piece of 1/4 pvc or whatnot. I know Tri used the PVC in his HID build and I believe he sourced it from a sign shop. We could probably figure out other sources.

If someone gave me a template I could make enough for everyone out of just scrap metal, then powder coat it. Im not usually about freebies (I do powder coating as a source of income) but this would be a fun project I wouldnt mind doing and people could just pay shipping. or I would ship em all to the OP and he could include them in his kit. (and hook me up with one)

The person who gets me the template I would of course just send one

I made a blank plate by hand, it was a real PITA. I am not 100% happy with it.
still need to sand and paint it.

I made a little bracket to hold the speed sensor. I still need to figure out how I am going to attach the magnet to the wheel. needs paint and sanding also.

I guess I could provide a template but it was done by hand so its not perfect.

trust me, you will not miss the old gauge. The tachometer is the exact same size as stock, you just save space on the fuel and speed. I did not center it because I will make a phone holder and place it next to the gauge for gps and other stuff. it would look better if it was center but thats up to the individual.

why didnt you center it? or are there plans to add some other bits on the left side~

looks really strange sat all the way to the right with nothing on the other side to balance it out, lol.

plenty of space to add an iPhone or something probably

ps, there is also a good spot to place the sensor in the front, so you dont need to fiddle with it again when you need to replace the brake pads etc.

I was thinking of adding a smart phone instead and maybe a gear gauge.
How did you get the magnets in place? Glue?

Just drop the magnets in the rotor bolts. They stay in fine, do not use glue or it will be a pain when you have to change the rotor.

The panel gt turbo linked to is for a different gauge, the KOSO RX1-N is what this one appers to be a copy of. It's mounting lugs and wire harness location are different from the RX-2.

Compare to stock yes, but that's part of the reason I wanted to replace it. It would look a lot better centered but that's up to you. I say it's about average for a digital gauge.

The panel is made of aluminum.

Do you know where we could find the right panel?

Bad news again guys

At 60mph on a tested gps the gauge shows 70mph. I emailed the guy but I don't think there is much we can do, he said the speed is programed into the gauge and I don't think is adjustable.

Hopefully he replies with a solution.

can you ask if we can get more information about the gauge ? i would love to be able to program in things such as the ODO and get accurate speed readings.

I doubt the guy will be able to help, it's very hard to communicate with him.
I do have a chip programer that I could use,but I would have to be given the code and the exact parameters to change. Other than that I dont think there is hope.

Haha I wish, remember this is a nock off and manufacturer never really thinks too much about the end user like that.

I was thinking of opening it and seen what micro controller is inside but I am not ver experience with micro controllers and even if I looked I wouldn't know what to do, if some one is willing to help I will open it.

To give you guys an idea of what I have been dealing with, this is what I emailed the guy yesterday:

I testes the speed sensor today and at 60 mph on my gps the gauge shows 70 mph.
It is high about 10mph.

You told me the speed was programed in, is the any way for me to change this?

This is what he replied:

Hello, dear.
Useful tools for your correct speed measurement speed

Needless to say HUGE LANGUAGE BARRIER!

Just use your gps for speed readings and have the cluster for everything else

I've been keeping an eye on this thread and your progress so far and i may be tempted to get one depending on how you go with your speed readings.
Also, can you switch between MPH and KPH or....?

jonnyc, I have the Koso RX1-N on my bike. This may just be a "unbranded" version. The Koso is programmable see if these instructions help you.

alright guys, this project is now dead

I had the great idea of opening the gauge to take a picture of the components, hoping that someone here with the knowledge might be able to help adjust the speed settings.

of course I ended up messing up the gauge and now the tach doesn't work. have been trying to fix it for the last 2 hours, no luck.

really frustrated right now and want to punch a wall!

Ken08Ninja: I looked at that guide before hand, there are no setting like the ones shown. only settings I can change are the time.

I do not believe the speed is programmed into the cluster. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0QQ...ht_2361wt_1165 It says magnetic induction. That means the "sensor" should have a coil at the end of the "sensor" wire. When the magnet passes by it when the wheel is spinning it creates flux. Which sends voltage via induction to the coil. The faster the wheel spins, the higher the induction created, meaning more voltage. I then think the cluster reads the amount of voltage being sent and displays a speed accordingly. If I am right then the cluster might have a potentiometer (variable resistor)...which you adjust and it'll adjust the voltage being sent.

I can't say for sure. Just started learning this stuff recently.

The gauge does read the voltage, but also makes a calculation off that voltage for the speed. Since the calculation is based on how it's programmed, it's going to depend on certain variables. I know on my koso speedo and the koso RX gauges require the wheel/tire measurement to work right. I'm guessing the gauge is programmed for a different size wheel.

What about a resistor between the sensor and cluster with just enough ohms to lower the voltage enough to make up that 10mile difference.

guys, wouldn't they use a hall effect switch and interface the digital signal directly. running an analog signal over a length of crappy wires and having analog circuitry in the instrument cluster sounds like an odd idea...also u will have to calibrate every gauge which is kinda expensive...

A hall effect switch is for on/off circuits. Since a speedo sensor wouldn't use an on/off mode, the only way to get a signal would be to use a hall effect sensor, not a switch. They just install an analog to digital converter.
