Ticking Noise

To cut it short: I got smacked by a big-ass truck last Friday. I *just now* came home with my bike. The guy who hit me let me keep the bike at his house. I ordered new parts, replaced them, and here I am. I still have a few things to fix, but no biggie.

I can't help but notice that there is a very audible ticking sound coming from my bike, which wasn't there before the accident. I know for a flaming fact that it isn't the valves. Could it possibly be the cam chain tensioner? Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks. ฅ(^・ω・^ฅ)

Welcome to Ninjette!

sorry to hear about your collision.

Where was bike hit?
What was damaged and what parts have been replaced?
Does the ticking vary with RPM?

CCT may be involved, but issues with it tend to be rattles.
Might want to inspect starter-clutch and ring-gear.
Look at clutch and basket on other side.

I mean, it's a *definite* rattling noise. I cleaned the cam chain tensioner and have yet to start him back up, because I'm currently painting the gas tank over again. The cam chain tensioner hasn't been touched since '04 -- right when the bike came out of the factory. I'll likely reply tomorrow, or the day after, of what the results are.

Now, as far as the clutch and whatnot goes: I've yet to crack open the housing that holds everything in. I'm starting with the little stuff. Know what I mean? Everything that was replaced has been minor stuff. Nothing major.

Solved: It was the cam chain tensioner.

Thanks. ฅ(^・ω・^ฅ)
