Stripped bolts

Hey all. While trying to remove the front fender I noticed the two hex bolts attaching the top of the fender are stripped. The previous owner botched a lot of the screws, but these are the only ones I couldn't replace.

Any advice for getting them out? They're in an awkward position and most of my tools don't fit even with the fairings / headlight removed. I was told an "Easy out" would help but they aren't available here. Ill likely take a drill and drill / sand off the two heads.

Do these bolts have loctite on them? And is there an easier way than drilling them out?

Ok so try this.

If you remove the front wheel you can access the bottom of the bolts from underneath with a drill. If you start with a small bit and drill in about 8mm then grab a slightly bigger bit and slow drill in it will grab the walls of the first hole and if you bolts aren't to tight it will spin out you bolts. There shouldn't be any locktite on any fairing bolts unless the previous own added some.

Basically what your trying to do is remove the fender from the mounting bracket, and the mounting bracket is attached to the fork legs. You can remove the 6 bolts holding the mounting bracket to the fork legs without having to remove the front frender at all. What I'm not sure about is wether after removing the 6 bolts if you can twist and guide the fender and bracket out of the bike as one piece. Also you'll need to remove the front wheel for this as well.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if I could get at the holes from under the fender. Removing the mounting bracket would likely make it much easier for me - either way the fender has to go! Previous owner damaged it and it rattles a little while I drive.

Or since your from Spain ill accept "pilot" as well since that's what they seems to call me while I was racing world.

Too right :P Suppose it is piloting, in a sense. I'll try drilling it once I get home and let you know how it goes...New fibreglass fender is going on in it's place - ever raced in Ascari, Ronda? Few friends and I are hoping to get a 250 group going there.

No I've never been there but I did race at Catalunya and go to do a private test for a Suzuki team at Valencia all by myself :lol

When I was at Valencia it felt so errie to have a track of that magnitude all to myself

That's awesome

I "raced" 50cc mini-bikes from when I was 13 till 16 with friends. Always wanted to run larger bikes but my family was never too keen on two wheeled vehicles

Anyways, update on my fender issue. The bolt wouldn't budge at all, I'm guessing it's rusted in there. Owner #1 had it sitting in the sun by the beach with no cover. I'll bring it to the shop and ask them to see if they can do it tomorrow.
P.S: Next time you're around here do let me know! Spanish riders aren't very good company

Haha yeah for sure next time I happen upon a full paid ride on the European circuit ill be sure to swing on by

My impression of Europe was every and I mean nearly everyone loved Motorsport and that included motorcycles

I guess I was wrong.

What's wrong are the Spanish street riders to hot headed to enjoy a good clean ride?

Yeah

I've got kids on mopeds trying to overtake me on a 40 street, and get quite a few super sports signalling me for races and wheelies. Kawi's are quite rare here so I guess they think I'm rolling on a super sport too

I haven't seen another 250 on the streets, makes me feel unique
