What an awesome meet & ride we had today! It was great to see the core group of the North GA Riders all together again. Great discussion and plans for the upcoming year. Everyone was on the same page in regards to the direction of the group even though our riding skills and techniques were rusty. See you all at our next ride on Feb 21 (unless a nice warm weekend presents itself before that, then see you then too!).

ROUTE IDEAS: ((please let me know which yall think?))
IDEA #1 - a SOUTH OF ATL LOOP around @deth188 area since its still kinda cool up this way and in the mountains.

IDEA #2 - a WEST SIDE LOOP maybe out to AL and back thru Dallas/Rockmart/Etc.

As long as the weather is nice and temps are above 50 degrees...the RIDE is ON!!!

Personally, I'd have a hard time going to Barber and not riding the track...it's my favorite! The museum kicks ass, though, and everyone should go at least once or twice!

I have always gone on a Saturday and usually try to register early to get ride times in the morning close together. That might be a bit more difficult this year because I want to ride the FZ07 and FJ09 which are both new. We can plan a ride after, not sure how lunch would work unless we can all get our rides done around the same time and before 1.

I've found wunderground to be a bit more reliable than weather.com. Both of them are pretty bad at predicting when it will actually rain, though, so pack some waterproof gear, just in case.

Post here when you're heading into the area! I'm sure some of us will be around to show you some good roads and good food =).

You're right about posting before going. I avoid destination rides because everybody does them but the people who live in the area ALWAYS know the best routes that everybody else doesnt even know exist.

I too have not found a very ACCURATE weather predictor...I think my left knee is usually more accurate than the weather peeps hahahaha! I use the Radar Map on the day of the ride to kinda see whats heading our way or if rain/storms are building up.

Post up when you are going to be out here and maybe some of us can meet up with you or at least point you to some good stuff.

accuweather.com - can be good at giving hours rain is predicted (been good for me)
and
radar app on phone - so I can try to adjust routes to avoid rain while in motion.

I avoid destination rides because everybody does them but the people who live in the area ALWAYS know the best routes that everybody else doesnt even know exist.
