Does Two Bros Exhaust add any power??

Does adding a carbon fiber two bros slip on exhaust add any power to the 08 ninja 250r??
Or is it simply for the sound/aesthetic purpose only??

Can you actually feel an increase in power??

Do you plan on jetting to go with it?

/moved to new-gen tech.

A slip-on without any jetting will not add any power. A slip-on with proper jetting will not add much power, if any. If you want measurable / significant performance gains on the 250, a full system is the recommended approach.

They range from $200 - $800 depending on manufacturer. Dynos vary, but getting 3 - 5 hp additional peak horsepower is the general expectation. People here have had good success with the Area P offerings, but there are other brands available as well if you search around.

One article I read says the 08+ 250r makes 26.40 hp @ 11,000 rpm. If this were increased by 5 hp, that would be an increase of just under 19%.

I'm not sure you'll get the full 5 hp out of just exhaust though. You'll need to do some other mods in addition to so you can get the bike's full potential. A 31-32 hp total would be expected from a fully modded bike.

Another thing to think about is generally when you replace intake and exhaust, you are increasing the ability of the engine to move air. Stock intake/exhaust is very restrictive at high RPM's which results in power dropping like a brick after a certain point. By replacing with aftermarket intake/exhaust while also increasing fuel, you are getting a lot more power at red line. So you may see the 3-5 HP gain from peak, but you would be seeing a much larger increase if you compare power at red line where stock system would drop but aftermarket would level off. This would keep the bike from feeling anemic at high RPM or WOT.

FWIW. My bike pulls hard all the way past the stock red-line of 12,500 rpm's. I think I've done all the HP mods available though including the BRT that increases the stock red-line to 15,000 rpm's.

Go Area P, I noticed a significant increase in power after it was jetted. The first few times I rode after the jet i ended up in the 80s frequently because I wasn't used to the increase in power. It's about a 15% increase. It sounds great as well.

Power, horsepower, feh... Numbers. You're talking about 27hp +/- 3 hp on an entry-level bike built to a cheap price point, not a MotoGP prototype. At this level of bike, it's all about feel and response vs. economy. And if you open up the system, and spend the money for an Area P, the feel and response is fcking GREAT.

If you want to add more juice, install an Area P exhaust, open up the intake as far as your mechanical aptitude and desires take you, twiddle the jetting to match, and you get a whole different bike. The "Just Barely Enough" syndrome that plagues the stock 250R goes away. You can do it yourself if you've got a garage, a socket set, some allen wrenches, a torque wrench, and internet access while you're working.

You can thank us later
