If people ask me those sorts of things while I am carrying my helmet but not near my bike, I just tell them that I enjoy wearing a crash helmet in my car. Works every time.

People tell me all the time how slow a 250 is and I have to tell them all the time that I live in the city and getting murdered isn’t a high priority for me regardless of the CCs so it's irrelevant.

cousin- LOL, thats a scooter. does it even break 80kmph?
me- i got it up to 170ish no problems!
cousin- *jaw drops* my harly doesn't even go that fast. *he then says has go and leaves* probably embarrassed

My favorite part about cruising around town on my 250 is when I see the guy on the 600 that thinks he's a boss with a bald back tire

Alex is running thread revivals guys!!! lol Brought the bike down yesterday. Started it up and the little brother (just turned 20) wanted to rev it. I said go ahead. He was being really gentle, around 4500 RPM, like "it's quiet". I said she comes to life after 7 grand. He took the permission and almost redlined her with a huge smile lol

"Thats more like it" he says. Baby Momma walks out like "Still sounds like a pissed-off weedwhacker to me"

Some random harley guy looks at it on the trailer when we stopped for coffee. He says "you know for 20 grand more, you could've had that" pointing back at his Big black and chrome beast. "My scooter is prettier, and cheaper" He laughed

Along with some of the other girls...

I was doing some stuff to my bike near the storage unit I was keeping it at and a bunch of guys were unloading stuff from trucks. One of them said to me 'hey, what are you doing with that motorcycle? You know how to ride that thing???' I replied.. 'of course I ride it, why else would I be here...'

Another time I was working on my bike in my driveway (no garage) and one of the guys who lives down the street walked by and said, 'cool bike, is it yours?' I said yes and he asked me if he could take a picture of it. I said sure and stepped away from the bike and he said 'no, no, with you on it.' I said no and he then proceeded to ask me for my number... ??????????

Riding through Georgetown in DC one night I stopped on the curb because I got a phone call and when I hung up, a guy walked over and said 'sweet 600, did you lower it?' 'Nah it's 250 and I'm just small enough to make it look big..' I later found out that he owns a bar with his buddies and all of them ride sport bikes.. go figure

Lastly, my dad used to have 2 standard hondas in the 70s and now he calls ANY sporty looking bike a 'ninjabike' no matter how many times I've explained to him that Kawasaki is the make and ninja is the model, other makes like yamaha and suzuki don't call their bikes ninjas. :P

Sometimes at stop lights guys next to me will roll down their windows and shout stuff at me, I usually can't hear it over the 2 bros which is fine with me..

And if I walk into some place carrying a helmet and wearing my jacket people sometimes ask me if I ride a Vespa..

To counter this, something NOT stupid someone said to me. I was at a local dealer looking at the Ducati Monster 696 which at $10,000 is about $9,900 out of my price range (but it doesn't hurt to sit on one, right?!) The salesman, my friend (who rides an HP4), another salesman with a Panigale R, and I were standing around talking in the showroom and they asked me what I ride now, I said it's an older ninja 250. They actually asked me when I got it and how I like it and if I've put any mods on it, instead of being like 'when are you gonna get a REAL bike?' And then a conversation followed about all the benefits of the 250 and how awesome they are. I love ninja 250 love!

A few of the other guys in my dorm will ask me if it's a 600. They chuckle when I tell tell them it is a 250. I then proceed to tell them that I get on average over 55 MPG, insurance is right at 300/year, and I paid less than 2K for it. Shocks them everytime.

So, the other day. I took my 250 to the gas station to fill up & then this cute girl was in her civic si. & she's like, "hey, is that the 650 or 250? "I told her the 250 & she said, "wow, you're only on a 250, can you get on the highway with that? Haha, my civic would burn you." I asked her, do you ride ? She replied, "yeah, I ride an '09 GSXR 750. See you around little 250!" & then she drove off.

Any other hater comments ?

The sad thing is that a 250 will still take a civic si. Stuff like this happens from time to time, the straighter the roads are the more a 250 is looked down on. In a rural area it doesn't happen as much, and when it does you can always pass the squid on his/her gsxr600/750/1000 whatever mid corner to prove your point. Once someone has been passed by an "inferior girls bike" they never really look down on it the same way again.
