Sale on Ninja 250 rear sets

Thought I'd let everyone know about a sale on Ninja 250 rear sets at SV Racing Parts. I saw the ad on WERA classifieds: http://weraclassifieds.com/ads/black...ets-clearance/. Here's the link to the product on the SV Racing Parts site: http://www.svracingparts.com/product...roduct=1616711. I ordered a set for myself.

Got these rear sets installed. Really good quality and easy to install. Came with brake pedal, shift lever, shift rod and an extra heim joint. All for $175. Also, support was awesome...Blair answered my email within an hour. Here are a couple of pics:

They are well made but I'm a little concerned with the foot peg length.

My woodcrafts pegs are about 3.25 inches

These are about 4.375 inches.

They are great for the price but I wouldn't take these to the track. I'm going to see if I can shorten the foot peg down.

Edit. The link is still up but for whatever reasons, their website has problems with some firewalls/antivirus.

From the picture it looks like there is a lot of adjustability with the relationship between the peg and the levers... but not so much adjustment of where the peg itself is. Is that the case or is it just how I'm perceiving the picture?!?!

Judging by your first picture it looks like you already have the "skills" to grind the peg down to desired length

$175 shipped.

As far as the peg length, I'll send an email to Blair and see what he says.

Just got a reply from Blair at SV Racing. He said everyone who bought these rearsets for the ninja 250 loves them and hasn't had any clearance issues.

Maybe it depends on where you like to put your foot. I like to have the center of the ball of my foot on the edge of the peg. I know if I put my foot too far out on the peg, I'll scrape my boot on some turns. I know an extra 1" in peg length will create problems for me.

Dino, did you scrape your Woodcrafts just from lean angle or was there a crash involved?

Bummer...my Gilles on the ZX6RR looks like that too from a crash. So, these SV Racing rear sets also have a spacer that goes between the frame and rear set bracket. Not sure that it affects how far the peg sticks out. First track day is April 23...I'll know for sure then.

bump for an old thread. just ripped off the stock right side rearset assembly and looking like most people want $50 or more for another stock used one. How did these work out and would you buy them again?

I got them from Blair @ SV Racing last week. He's local and supports many of the local riders and racers.

Love them, higher than stock, further back from stock. I think even at the bottom peg mount, it's higher than stock. Solid rearset for sure.

I'll get a photo, but the pegs aren't that long, the photo shows measuring from the baseplate of a full rearset vs the risers plate.

That being said, I can certain grind the sv racing rearsets at the track. I should notch the bottom of the pegs a bit to give me that extra bit of room.

@$175, good value. Replacement pegs are readily available as well.

Got mine installed, overall a very nice product (especially for the price). Once issue I did run in to was I had a hell of a time getting the shift linkage to clear all the parts of the kickstand and mount. Forced the angle of the levers to be a bit higher than I would like.

Having to wait on several other parts to put the bike back together and I will see if the position of the leves bothers me. This is on the rearmost but lowest hole for the peg. I image on the upper holes it would be a non-issue.

Anyone else have something like this on theirs? I will say this, if there is another sale on these for other bikes I will buy them for my track bike and my 6R. They are pretty nice.

Can you post a picture of the set up? Are you running regular or GP shift?

I will try and get a pic when I am in the garage tomorrow (got cleaned up tonight already lol). I am running standard shift pattern.

Also is there no place to mount a brake return spring on these things? I almost never use the rear brake but seems like something that should be taken into account.

Holy crap those are long pegs!! Just buy replacement pegs.

But from the looks of it the seller/owner fell short of R&D cuz guaranteed those pegs would scrape at our track. AsianDave scraped shift peg (not footpeg) on my bike. That's how much lean he gets on my rental bike.

So it looks like these are on sale again? They're currently offered for $175 shipped which is mighty tempting...

Can anyone who has used or owned these comment on quality? Do they feel "sporty" enough?

Thanks!

I would like to know about these as well.
I was getting ready to order the Vortex but these are almost half the price.
There are some post that the woodcraft had some clearance issues with the AreaP mid/high pipe. Anyone know if these have any problems with the AreaP?

Thanks,
Doug

The only thing I do not like about the Woodcraft rearsets is that they are not adjustable. The vortex look really nice and are fully adjustable, but at less than $200 these SV Racing rearsets look pretty dang nice.

Edit

So I sent Blair (the guy who runs the SV Racing Parts site) an email in regards to whether these rearsets can be setup in a "GP Shift" configuration and less than 5 minutes later I got a response.

Quote:
Hi Manny, absolutely no problem with GP Shifting, all you do is flip the
Shifter Knuckle on the spline coming out of your engine into the opposite
direction,

Rear Sets are in stock and ready to ship to you today. If you want to use
them for street use you should also order the CT RBLS from the drop down
boxes when you order. They are a very simple install,

Everything is in stock and ready to ship,

Enjoy the ride, and best regards,
Blair
Have to say I am pretty impressed in terms of how fast he responded. Also judging by my last hour or so of googlin' these are good quality rear sets apparently made in 'Merica.

I think I may just bite the bullet.

Edit 2

Although I have also had my eyes on these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kawasaki-200...item4aba55f5fa

I've got mine set up with a GP shift. I was a little worried about grinding the pegs but I adjusted the rear sets to the next higher position and had no issues.

Seeing as you've had them for a while, how do you like them? Was the installation pretty straightforward?

I am curious on the positioning. Are they further back than stock? Do they "feel" good? Also did you order the rear brake light pressure switch with yours?

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!

I have them and really like them for $$$, can't beat the value. I know a bunch of local guys racing with them.

Blair is around for support for spare parts etc. Good luck with spares on ebay sets.

I've got a area P exhaust and no clearance issues.

The sets now come with much shorter pegs, I can take a photo of them if you want. They are adjustable for peg position etc, I have them set to highest peg spot on the race bike, GP shift as well.

I've crashed with them and they made it thru, just needed a couple of new parts and bolt.

I'll be racing with them again, the shorter pegs should help even more.

Man that is awesome to hear. Really my only concern was the length of the pegs, they looked a bit long.

If you don't mind I would love to see a pic.

I am pretty much sold on these rear sets as well.

I don't really know if I want to get the rear light switch though. I use the rear brake but never without the front unless I'm at really low speeds. I wonder if I can rig the stock switch to work somehow.

Anyone know if these will work/fit the 300? I've heard quite a few 250 rearsets will work on the 300 but that some need minor modification.
