300 header pipes fit on a 250 08 and up.

Yesterday as I was getting ready to start up my track 250 Ninja and just needed to put the exhaust on. Well I was on the phone with my Bluetooth device thingy and talking away and did not notice I grabbed the header pipes off my 300, but the thing is they went straight on, no fiddling nothing, just bolted right up to the motor. The other mounting point on the frame underneath also lined up enough to get the 6mm bolt in there (the 300 has a 8mm bolt). The exhaust canister I am using (off a Ducati Monster) in this case just slipped right on there and everything looked and fitted just great. When I started it up I noticed the sound was more 300 Ninja like, but still did not realize my mistake. So this morning I walked into the garage and noticed the 250 headers still hanging there on my wall...doh..

So ladies and gents, this can be a cheap header upgrade since the tubing diameter is quite a bit larger and many people like myself will go for a full exhaust on the 300, leaving many available at a dime a dozen.

this is the best news I have heard all day, I already have a leo vince slip on, but now I want to get bigger headers to make it a full system, just couldn't find any to fit. wonder how much I can find them for?

well , is basically the same motor, the 300 and the 250 08up. it wouldn't be strange that the headers are the same

The headers are not the same. The 300 headers go under the motor and are larger in diameter.

No, but if you do it will be because you need to use fresh/new exhaust gaskets. Sometimes the old ones are too compressed and will leak. If in a pinch you could use 2 old ones on each side.

BTW I have since put the stock 250 headers back on my bike. The 300 ones were too close to the fairing underneath the bike and I did not have any heatproof materials to put between the header and the fairing so decided to just take it off again.

Good idea. I have a Tyga full exhaust on the way. When it comes I will take of the stock header and slip on the 300 one and take some pictures of it. Getting ready for a track day this weekend so needed to get the bike ready in a hurry.

Which monster exhaust did you use? The one that you said fit right onto the 300 headers?

It was a muffler from a 750 Supersport, after market cannot recall the name. However it was a poor fit, would not recommend it. It did stick out to the side more due to the bend on the muffler itself. I smeared some exhaust sealer where it joined the header to keep it from blowing out there due to the poor fit. It did work for the trackday as an emergency though.
