Bike stand necessary during storage?
Is it really necessary to put bike on front/rear stands during winter?

Not necessary. But if you're winterizing your bike for a long time, you'd want to rotate the tires occasionally so they don't develop flat spots. Some people also place carpet or wood underneath the tires to prevent cracking and give the tires some give.
