I can't Choose!!!

I have a 08 250 ninja and Im getting better and better but I feel this time next year i'll want to move up to a different bike. This is where the issue comes in, I love the styling of sport bikes, cruisers, and the Ducati sport classic.

Crusier: harley 883 Iron
Sport Bike: CBR600RR
Ducati Sport classic

The guys I currently ride with all ride harleys, right now im the odd man out lol, rather comical when we ride together. I do love cruising with them but I also love hitting the twistys hard on my ninja when im alone. Something that cant be done without scraping on a Harley.

I want a bike that will be comfortable on longer rides (2-3hours and up) but at the same time I want to be able attack corners. I dont like the standard seating postion of touring bikes or bikes like the 650r.

My question is can things be done to make a CBR600 more comfortable for longer rides? Can i still cruise with my Harley friends without becoming bored? Or am I looking for a mythical motorcycle?

Also I have test rode the 883, I loved the ride but I didnt have the chance to really test the steering. I have only sat on the CBR and Ive never seen the Ducati in person

PS. I have pretty much wrote off the Ducati because of the expense on maintenance and the distance from dealership. maybe when I have more disposable income

Are you looking for advice to make a CBR more comfy, or are you wanting optional bikes suggestions?
Formerly, I would expect you to find better info from a dedicated forum for those bikes.
Latterly, I would say something like a FZ6 / SV650 w sport clip-ons would fit and make a better upgrade from the 250r than the 600rr.

Have you taken the ninjette on any long rides that you speak of? My 6 hour ride wasn't all that uncomfortable on it...aside from my throttle hand getting sore. I do have a 15T front sprocket which helped out a lot.

my longest was a 3 hour ride, wasnt too bad I took 1 break one hour in to stretch my legs. My butt was a little sore by the end though

Yeah I hear you, the seat sucks, would be a nice upgrade. Though, I was practically laying down on top of my tank bag and that took some 'pressure' off of the rear end.

Depends on where the uncomfortable-ness comes from. Is it from being leaned over? If so, Ninja 650/Ninja 1000

I don't think supersports are meant to be comfy the way you want it.

First, I would say 1200 not 883. They work good as a cruiser (very comfortable), they will work in the twisties ( when you learn how to ride them, using torque instead of RPM), especially if you upgrade suspension and brakes, you will fit in better with your friends, they are low maintainence, they look and sound cool, and they put a smile on your face everytime you ride them.

i like the styling of the new 883 iron rather than the 1200... if the iron had a 1200 it would be perfect!

Triumph Thruxton. Its an 883cc fuel injected twin. Classic gorgeous styling. Sound that your Harley buddies will respect. And its not a 250 in the twisties, but it's definitely no pig either

I too love the Thruxton. A very cool retro Cafe Racer! However, they are expensive. I will own one of those one day though.

Plus a throttle lock and you're golden for long road trips

Maybe in the USA they are 8K - 9K. However, in Canada a new on OTD will run you over 12k. Beautiful bike though. When I finish my sport bike phase I will certainly get one of those.

for some thing that can be really sporty and fun in the corners a great comuter and a great cruising bike i would get a triumph street tripple-r.
they have the same engine as the daytona 675 but slightly detuned a slightly more relaxed riding position and the "R" has the adjustable suspension so you can set it up better to suit yourself.
it is really smoth on the power delivery and has (i think) an awesome sound it really is a good all round bike.
