Permatex Copper Gasket Maker High Temp

Has anyone used this product to stop the leakage after installing a 2 bros slipon were the slip slides over the midpipe? What is the cleanest application of the gasket maker compound and just when/where do you use the clamp to ensure the leakage is stopped as well as the location of the application so it doesnt squish out all over the place and look like a true mess from the get go. Their website is not very clear on the application for slip ons at all.

Put the Permatex on the outer portion of the slip on tube in a thin even 3/4" wide ring so when the pipe is inserted it pushes the sealant away from the midpipe side. Do not over clamp..15 ft/lbs is enough..more and things distort. Let the pipe "cure" for 24 hrs. before getting her hot. A wet swipe with a rag when first put on will clean off any excess. Remember to clean both surfaces really well with acetone or brake cleaner and dry before applying sealant. A really clean surface makes all the difference for this stuff adhering well. Some people will scuff up the surface for better grip but not really necessary in this type of application....needed for mild steel exhausts on cars where the clearances are looser between pipes.

Craig... so you mean put the 3/4" wide bead on the inside of the slip on tube and not the 250's midpipe. Then insert the midpipe into the slip on and slide it down the midpipe then clamp the end to secure.. yes? Oh and thanks for getting back to me... mucho appreciato.
