I've never heard it used before.

I think over here someone would describe that guy as "having a laugh" or "having a right laugh" or just "he's happy!"

I love the language differences among what Winston Churchill would call the 'English speaking peoples'.

I cannot recall a time in my life when I didn't use that expression!

Yeah being british myself, I wouldn't bat an eyelid at that expression, I thought it was fairly universal? Obviously not, it's strange as being british we tend to have an inbuilt translator where we take bastardised english and just hear it as proper english only it gives us a headache and makes us mildly iritable, all your superfluous z's "btw it's pronunced zed not zee" and strange words such as sidewalk, airplane & aluminum "pavement, aeroplane & aluminium" and the excessive use of vehicle insted of refering to the specific type of vehicle.

But it surprises me Akima hasn't heard this one before.

I kinda like the language differences. It's fun! I can usually understand what Americans mean when they use strange terms & phrases.

Oh oh! Here's a cool British (I think) phrase you might like @250rr:
Instead of saying "I'll be there" you could say more enthusiastically "You can bet your cotton socks I'll be there!" That's kinda archaic English language, but I still here people say it occasionally.

@Joshorilla: yeah... that whole "vehicle" thing always gets me too lol. It sounds so odd. It's almost like saying "there is a mammal walking down the street" instead of saying "there is a dog walking down the street" or "there is a person walking down the street"

Ever since Good King George we like doing this.

@akima I will use this silly British expression with relish. And I will do so today.

that's cool! Now I want a microphone for my camera!

And, going with the language differences, you Brits have some pretty silly words too, e.g. boots are something for your feet, not a car.

Though this just reminded me of a show I'm watching with a Brit down in Louisiana. The subtitles started getting goofy, eventually getting to "??? ????? ??? tin ??? ??? time ???" with the host saying "Did I mention that I was having slight problem with the language barrier? Which is odd, as I am fairly certain we are both speaking English."
