So I think I'm getting screwed....

So I've got my bike in the shop so that they can finish sorting out the carbs (I gave up). The shop has a dyno, so they ran it on there before they decided what should be done. I get a call today saying they they pulled the first run, and the A/F ration looks dead on. Then they said the thing pulled 17hp at 10k rpms... Wtf?! Then the guy proceeded to say that he thinks that those were pretty expectable numbers. I know he's full of ****. What should I do?

For reference, by bike has a noticeable dead zone from idle to about 4k rpms. Then it feels week through the who rpm range.

It should be pulling mid 20's at that point...

Tell him he's wrong and you won't pay him for doing a job that he didn't do right until they get it right.

I would also pull dyno charts from online of stock 250's and show him that he's stupid if he thinks that's correct.

Yeah, and I guess I should have mentioned that I'm running a full exhaust ad a pod filter... Anyone have a chart showing a 250 with the same setup? A/F ratios would be nice as well....

this is from Area P's site.

The last dyno videos I watched on youtube that showed the AFR was showing about 13.5 as their target AFR

Well the dealer called today and revealed what seems like a very possible candidate for the problem: one of the carb diaphragms are ripped. So unless one of you guys can sell me some carbs by 6 today (I want my bike ASAP lol) I'm just gonna shell out the $120 for the diaphragm and have it done right.

Haha I guess. I don't even know if I'd be able to do that though. Working on a bike in a wheelchair is difficult

I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled the first monday back, then I have a full-time job and a part time job lined up for all summer. hahaha random road trips aren't really in the budget/schedule. Sorry Sean.

I'm working on the whole internship in CA thing next summer though!! If you hear of any openings for ME interns next summer that pay well enough for me to rent a room/pay for a room let me know, and introduce me to someone seriously, not even kidding. Introduce me. I really want to spend some time in Cali. Last time I was there, I went to LA with the family for vacation, and that was in like 5th grade. LOVED IT!! The air smelled different, and the sun was always out, and the only good part about going home was the airplane ride (also the last time I was in an airplane. very cool experience)

If I get the ability to go out to the west coast next summer, I'll make weekend trips to visit you and Justin and the SoCal guys and ride as much as possible. The plan is to rent a uhaul van and drive me + my stuff + the ninja there so I have transportation while I'm there.

EDIT: sharing your sister's bed? hmmmm I didn't know you were the pimp

Not if you take the carbs out entirely and leave it out.

Not a chance. The fairings are already annoying but since its all tweaked, it doesnt come off or go on the same way... not messing w/ that thing again. Plus, I'd rather ride instead.

I plan on doing some kind of cross country ride next year to move my bike to NYC. Maybe I'll swing up to Ohio on the way.

hey, claim the EFI kit. get me carb needles, and get poor andy a diaphragm!! geez.

@setasai that's a helluva long ride! You crazy! but I'd be happy to take you for a spin around the Cleveland/Akron area for a day or two depending on when you come by. Maybe I could use it as an excuse to finally go ride the roads down south near Athens in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains

Not sure if you still need a carb diaphragm, but I have 2 OEM diaphragms unopened and in the box I can sell for much less than the dealer's $120.

Probably not gonna work how you think Chris. I tried jets meant for the new-gens in my pre-gen............. yah changed them right back out cause the bike turned to s***. They dropped my mpg dramatically and we just could NOT get it to tune properly.

wasn't that the weird sportisi needles that you tried in your pregen?

If you look on parts diagrams, the jets are the same jets between both generations:
http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/produ...NG+USE+ONLY%29

for the needles, I'm going to shim them out as far as needed to make them the same length as my shimmed needles. If they completely don't work, I'll just sell them again. They were only $10. I still need a second pair though so I have a pair of the same length...
