But here is the thing. The MSF still passed me after 6 drops. Theyre the ones who encouraged to not let it get it my head and get me down. The instructor pushed me to keep going, cause I almost gave it up and walked off the course. I was so frustrated.

You are nothing more to me than some dude on the internet, you have the inability to not be a dick about it, so I have no obligation to listen to you.

You want to know the first thing I did with my Ninja? I didn't ride on the street that's for sure. I took it to a closed, private industrial complex. I practiced there for a week and half before getting on the road.

You're being so unnecessarily aggressive.

One more thing alex:

It was not 6 in one day.

careful with the TOS

this is the point i'm trying to make. on the street, you encounter much worse than some asshole on the internet. on a daily basis. many times a day in fact. if you can't control yourself with someone you "don't care about" on the internet how are you going to control yourself when some road rager is trying to hit you on the street.

ego on a motorcycle will kill you. ask me how i know and i'll tell you some stories.

oh that's right, you don't care because i'm just some asshole on the internet right? clearly you know better than everyone else. you've been riding an entire month.

They just want you to improve yourself before going back on the streets so you don't hurt yourself. It's not that you shouldn't ride at all, but that you should get better first.

I think someone on here had a quote in their signature about filling your bag of experience before you use up your bag of luck. It's easy to think that you're ok because you've been lucky so far.

You are responsible for your own safety. As a community should be giving advice to help others and just talking about what is going on. No reason to try and encourage others to cease trying or give up. No reason for names or bullying. There is enough ugliness in this world. Have nothing nice to say don't say it. Perhaps the idea of practicing more in a closed environment and working on basics is a better approach. Positive encouragement is the idea.

Honestly I wasn't sure we had people like this on the forum.

When you fall, you get back up and give it another try. These people telling you to quit are just being extremely negative and mean. It's not like we've been riding for years and still making noob mistakes, we are noobs...

I'd like to make a bet that Alex or Cam made plenty of mistakes / accidents when they were learning.

BTW You can't just hop on a motorcycle and know how to ride it, you aren't born with that skillset, you just aren't, it's something you learn. Alex says he's been riding for a while, hmmph doesn't sound like he has.

But I've yet to drop my bike on actual public roads. Maybe it's the way I'm wording things or typing it out, but I think it's coming across that I'm less competent than the reality. I've gone up and down the highway, rode across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, rode for hours in the dark, been in stop and go traffic. I go out and practice slow maneuvers when temp and weather permits. Any "drops" I've had since Day 5 have been 0-2mph with not a car or soul in sight. So yes that's evident I need to get better at U-Turns, watch for ice in my gravel driveway, or watch myself better when performing maintenance on it etc. I have the world ahead of in education of motorcycles, I have much much much more to learn, but I am not an idiot just barely getting by on two-wheels. I've messaged the admin to delete this thread because this is just a lot of unnecessary drama.

this is called ego. you have been riding for 1 month. trust me you have no skills. don't take it as an insult. i didn't have any skills even at 1 year of riding. **** i barely have any skills now. just because you have been lucky doesn't mean you are skilled. be more humble and people won't talk to you the way cyclecam did.

i don't think the thread should be deleted. it has many important lessons to be learned by many people.

not only are single vehicle crashes the majority the most common causes are alcohol and speed. if sober and riding at a reasonable pace a single vehicle accident should not happen, granted it is something that can happen and as you add on speed to have fun the odds of it happening go up. I agree that it is much safer and preferable to get speed out of the way in a track course which is why I have been saving up for track days next summer.
