Almost met jesus, Michelin's for the win.

Okay im going to try not to drag this out. I was on the interstate coming home from work about 30 minutes ago, everything was smooth with everybody doing about 70 like usual. I merged onto the interstate & was immediately cut off by a Rick Ross look alike in a range rover on 26"+ rims with a lift, He was up there and I could not see a damn thing. Anyways as I started to let off the gas he cuts completely to the right away from me and wouldn't you know it everybody was locked up for god knows what reason & I squeezed the living **** out of my brakes. Anyways I have a close call just about every day but this was without a doubt out of my control. When the cars locked up some went to the right and the one in front of me went to the left in the shoulder and left just enough clearence to squeeze in between the baracade and the car. (Barely: My leg rubbed against the side of the car) Anyways I just wanted to post this so I can talk about my rear tire. When i bought my 2011 se I immediately put on Bridgestone Battlax tires, Until my rear got a flat and I got a Michelin Pilot Power installed. I put about 1100 Miles on my Bridgestone's and barely 90 on my PP's. Everytime I had to lock up with my BS's my rear would swing out from under me no matter what the situation & I wanted a new tire anyways because of it. Today was the first time I had a "oh ****" moment with the pilot powers and the rear tire fought like hell to keep traction. I would hear it grip then slip then grip and finally brought me to a stop. So the moral of this story is I absolutely love my tire! and my bike! and you! and life at this point. Time for a beer..

Yorchi just go long ways on main streets first before you go on the interstate and stay in your comfort zone & KC, Yeah it all happened in about a split second and caught me off guard. It went from getting cut off like usual here in Virginia Beach to a complete cluster****.

On the way to work the street or freeway isn't busy for me in the morning...on the way home is a completely different story. The street is more crowded than the freeway going home in the afternoon and that is where most of the idiots are found for me. I have to do it though, like a small fear I have to learn to get over. I've already promised myself that Friday is the day

Glad you survived! At least here in EP the idiots are much easier to spot....they all have bright yellow New Mexico plates or Red and White Mexico plates. Makes life much easier.

Glad you made it. Locking up the back brakes isn't a great plan, no matter what tires you've mounted. Emergency stops will be so much shorter with proper use of the front brakes, with very little pressure needed (or helpful) on the rear. If it locks, it's a solid indicator that too much pressure was used.

I must ally with Brandon757. Leaving reasonable safe following distances in Hampton Roads is essentially an open invitation for someone to "cut in front" of you. Motorcycles in that area have it particularly bad because bikes lack the mass to make the other person think about the consequences. So, the bikes feel the pinch. Filtering is not legal in VA, so the conscientious biker is left to choose - closer or cut off.
