2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300 Recalled for ABS Modulator Issue
As we expected, a manufacturing error for a Nissin anti-lock brake modulator has led to a recall for the 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300. Kawasaki had already issued a recall in Japan for ABS-equipped versions of the 2013 Ninja 250, so it was no surprise that the 300, which uses nearly all of the same parts, [...] more

ABS Model Recall

Hey folks,

For any of you with the ABS model, you may want to check your serial number: http://www.autoevolution.com/news/20...ems-63822.html

Heard about this yesterday.

When it fails, does it just act like regular brakes?

Yes, normally when the ABS has a malfunction the brake is working just as the normal brakesystem.
But it is important to realize that with ABS in case of an emergency you MUST do a full braking until the bike stops for ABS working in the way it should.
So if you do a full braking and the ABS is NOT working your tire will slide and then -> crash or hopefully not...

So always remember: DON'T TRUST IN ANY SYSTEM, since it can and sometimes it also will fail (you know Murphy's law).

One more reason that ABS is not necessary

I kid, I kid. But really, the non-ABS bikes aren't being recalled. Just sayin

I just called Kawasaki and talked to Tim, he told me to call back on Friday when they will have the VINs of all affected models in their system.

I guess 8/2/13 is when the recall will begin and they will know for sure which models are going to be affected.
