The Gromtastic 24hr

So were down out at willow springs currently 13.5 hrs into the M1-GP super endurance 24hr race. Our team is riding the brand new Honda Grom and it's still going strong(well as strong as a gutless mini bike can go)

@Darling Ninja is in the middle of her second of three stints on the bike and I'm working the pit board.

Here's a little video of her in her first session before getting ass packed and crashing(no injuries no damage)

Link to original page on YouTube.

I'm actually lapping 1:00 all day long with a 0:59 here and there. Our Taiwanese rider is only 1-2 seconds off my pace. When I started the race I jumped right into second place(electric start FTW) and then proceeded to jump get passed left and right for the next 30 mins . Everyone always sends out their fastest riders first to gain a lead so compared to those riders I was pathetic.

After 30 mins in figured out how to ride the bike(no practice for me) and got my lap times from 1:05's down to 1:00's. Then the other teams started swapping out riders and I was able to start catching and passing people which help tone down the tunes of utter defeat that were playing in my head for the first 30 mins of the race. My first session I rode till the gas tank was empty so 2h 10m and handed the bike off to my team with us in second place.

Since then I've ridden two more times one session 2hrs and another 1h 15m. It looks like I'm done with my part and the rest of the team will be bringing it into the finish.

So as you said Cameron the Grom is just about as fast as a decent NSR down the straits. The super steep steering angle which I can only think was designed to make doing stoppies easier but totally sucks in the turns. My team swapped the rear shock to something aftermarket but it was total crap with zero rebound dampening so you had to be very smooth or it would try and buck you off. The foot peg ground clearance is laughable at best. On a more positive note the torque was decent for 9hp and the fuel injection felt buttery smooth and responsive and the brakes worked surprisingly well.

Its a great bike for urban big city riding and has the smallest turning radius of anything I've ever ridden so you can seamlessly maneuver around obsticals with ease.

On line reviews have been positive for the "Grom".
Great little mini/pit bike.
I'm thinking of getting one too.

I'm really proud of our team! Unfortunately, I crashed, but we still managed to get third place!

How do I embed a Facebook video?

It's not my video, I just shared it on Facebook from someone else's page.
