BT tires have no "problems" and are a wonderful choice. One; they have a harder center strip for longevity. Two; they have a beauty soft compound outer edge for enduring lay down cornering, which also means you'll have "strips" for a much longer time with them. JUST F'IN RIDE PEOPLE! Don't ever feed into people and their chicken strip bulldunk. Like it says where I surf; No Kooks, No Posers!

Yeah, riding isn't about getting rid of your strips. Just ride for fun! Hell just cause you don't corner all the time doesn't mean you can't !

Went out today for what is bound to be one of my last decent weather rides (about 65F for the high) until Spring, and took a trip back and forth on my favorite road. I'm starting to remember some of the curves rather well, enough that I was getting a little more confident to give it more lean. Came home and remembered this thread...

Front:

Rear:

Rear is about .5" on either side, front is slightly larger more on either side.

Not sure what this says for my ability, don't really care. I'm having fun and that's all that matters.

My bike is not a toy, it's transportation. It mostly does highway miles.

There really should be two categories, track and street. Obviously street riders who never go on tracks are never going to safely remove their strips.

Here's a comparison of my street riding (brand new tires) and after two days on the track.

Before: about 100 miles on it, 30 of which were twisties.

After: 184 miles of track!

^ very appropriate for street vs track.

street riders shouldn't be comparing chicken strips.

But what do you expect from a 30 something daily highway commuter who doesn't even know where any twisties are?

pegs? lol nowhere close. 26 mile round trip commute. Most of it highway.
Closest I get to "lean angle" is changing lanes.

Those chicken strips correspond with around 45 degrees lean.

Hernan, not sure if a pregen is even capable of doing 45 degrees lean. Although, measure my avatar picture with a protractor if you really feel so inclined. It's also in one of my albums on my profile.

Yes, they can.

I have measured the pic of your post #87 and have calculated 43 degrees (via tan^-1) for the frame of the bike respect to vertical.

With the help of your hang-off, those patches were holding as much lateral force as vertical weight.................. good rubber !!!

About an inch or so left on both sides. I'm having a lot of fun removing the strips.

Don't think I'll be able to get the rest off without taking risks. Not bad for street-only?

Again, strips aren't a valid benchmark for good-ness or bad-ness.

As long as you're having fun, that's all that matters.
