2011 shock on a 2002?

I know the 08,09,10 work but i've never heard of a 11 on a pregen yet. I have someone willing to sell me one for $40 and want to make sure it will fit

look up the part # on an online parts supplier...

http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/

I'm pretty sure the 11 has the same shock as previous year new gens.

$40 for a practically new shock is a bargain.

I bet its the same thing, and if it isnt exactly, the mounting brackets are almost certainly the same since there was never a big hurrah about redesigning the rear suspension setup for 2011.

once you get it on, youll love it. it actually doesnt just give like jello and it raises the back about an inch for better turn in. I would also suggest buying the preload adjustment spanner wrench can comes in the tool kit of a newgen so you can play with that. mine came on setting level 4 and it rode like a dump truck untill i borrowed a friends' spanner tool to adjust it to a lower setting.
