Horn only works when it wants to
I installed a louder horn a while back and it was working great for couple months, but now it only works at random times. I have checked the connections at the horn and everything is connected. Not sure where to go from here. Horn is one of those highway blasters. Any suggestions?

Turn the handlebar from lock to lock and try seeing where the cables that feed the horn bend more: you may find an internally broken cable at that point.

next to headlight relay, at battery. replace with oem or similar. Our bike rape cheap relay's, they can't handle the vibration.

20 amp should be more than adequate, though most automotive SPST relays are 40 amps

Yes, you're required to have a working horn in Texas.

if it's not something obvious, like a loose connection, blown fuse, blown relay, etc. it could either be the switch, wiring, ground location, or the horn.
personally, I have a multimeter that I bust out frequently for troubleshooting this type of stuff. You can test for continuity, voltage, etc. to determine if it's a wiring issue, if the horn is malfunctioning, etc. You do need a bit of electrical knowledge to get started though. worth a shot if you understand the basics of DC electricity. They're pretty cheap. |

Tested all wiring, ended up being the horn. Took it back to autozone and got it exchanged for a new one. I installed a 40 amp relay and larger gauge wires. Horn is loud as **** now

Sorry, OP. Glad to know your issue's fixed though.
