My 250R still in progress

Okay so I posted before about some of the mods done, but didnt have pictures to show at the time. I still have to put the front light with the turn signals on and the plate bracket with turn signals / running / brake lights on.

Tires and suspension are off a 2nd gen so they are a bit bigger than stock. Front tire is 110/70R17 and rear tire is 140/70R17. Led tail lights and turn signals, rear spring I was told is off a Yamaha R1. Various other mods but these are the biggest ones.

-new gen front and rear suspension
-new gen headlight mounted on driving light brackets and L brackets.
-ex500 gauge cluster, the tach reads a bit off but it works for my purposes
-ex500 rear shock and springs in front
-bike lowered about 2" front and rear
-dirtbike handlebars on homemade adapter plate on upper triple tree.
-UNI pod filters and Area P exhaust 112.5 main jet, 42 pilot and 2 washers under each needle, IIRC. Pilots could be dropped a size, but this starts in 30* weather.
-2x 6 LED driving lights
-Rear of frame chopped off and seat shortened, tail light and grab bar welded on closer.
-Removed fairings and service stand.

Next up is porting the head. I have a ticking sound coming from the left cylinder, and I found a used head and timing chain guides cheap, and I'll get a new timing chain tensioner to put on at the same time. Looking at the head, there's some pretty obvious things to clean up like casting lines and sharp edges without making any major changes, I'm just not sure how far to go, like deshrouding valves, where it will flow better but not drop compression too far and shift the power band too much. It'll probably benefit from a bit more compression and timing advance though, so I'm already planning to just omit the base gasket under the jugs and do the timing pickup mod. I believe it's the intake cam that was suggested to advance 1 tooth to improve top end.

I did a MicroSquirt conversion on my '05 Kawasaki EX250 and '93 Suzuki GSF400.

Both run great. I did the conversion on the EX250 in 2009 and the GSF400 in 2013.

This past spring/summer I dug back into the EX250 to upgraded/improve the fuel injection (and ignition control) because this bike is becoming my younger daughter's ride now. This was both a desire to make sure the bike was up to spec because it's my daughter (right?) and because I enjoy tinkering in the garage.

So I improved its fuel delivery system and I implemented full ignition control, the most important item in this was adding the alternator rotor from a 2015 EX250 (this new-generation rotor has a "24 minus 2" trigger pattern on it, which works perfectly with the MicroSquirt firmware and it fits perfectly on the pre-gen EX250).

Other parts in the FI system:
ECU = MicroSquirt V3
Throttle Body = from a parted-out European 2008 EX250 (the first FI EX250)
fuel manifold in place of original fuel petcock = Pingle FI manifold
fuel pump = Honda TRX500 Rancher (four wheeler) fuel pump
Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor = Motorola MPX4115
Intake Air Temp and Water Temp sensors = General Motors (AC Delco)
Wide Band O2 sensor + sensor controller = Bosch sensor + Innovate LC-1
Upgraded Fuse Box = Eastern Beaver PC-8 Fuse Panel

Had non-functional petcock on my street pre-gen. Someone had removed spring and it doesn't turn off properly, leading to leaking-carb filling up my engine and hydrolocking it. I installed new-gen petcock on it. Don't have gas-gauge, don't have reserve. But at least I know it functions properly. Just have to odometer and refill every 250-miles or so.
