Won't start

So, I changed the oil when I saw that it was really low. Now I'm thinking I need to change the plugs.
But when was trying to start it up today, it won't kick on. The longer I would hold the starter button, the lights go dim and the power got really weak, then nothing. I just put a new battery in yesterday so i know it's not that. But is it the alternator now since what I just describe is happening?

Yeah, always charge a new battery before putting it in - could have been sitting on the shelf a while.

Third opinion on the battery issue, did you actually put a fully charged battery in, or a
new one right out of the box? Usually the ones OTB are not fully charged. Make sure the battery is charged before you go fussing with the alternator, which hardly ever ever ever fails in this bike so it seems....

Ok I charged the battery

To 100% and the bike still not turning over. Plus it did the same thing.. The cluster went dim and then heard a clicking noise.. Alternator right?
Also, could it be that I haven't cleaned the carburetor since it's been sitting for so long?

Clicking = Battery has power going to solenoid which isn't turning over the starter motor (which it should be).

I would be worried about the alternator if you had your problems while the bike is running, not at startup.

Still sounds like a battery problem to me. You can get a "full charge" reading from a charger and still have a bad battery.

Check the voltage - 1st before you crank, 2nd while you are cranking.

A fully charged battery will read 12.7V before cranking. When you hit the button you should still see 11V or above while the starter is turning. If you get less, and the battery showed 12.7 before hitting the button, there's an internal problem with the battery - not uncommon.

It's also not uncommon to need to charge a low battery for 8 to 10 hours (at the correct rate for its size) in order to get it 100% charged. When you take it off of the charger it will read higher, but should settle down to 12.7V after sitting a while.
