3,000 maintenence needed, never got the 600. Help?

Should I bring it to a Kawasaki dealer, or a local dealer. Is there anything covered under any potential warranty (purhased it in Fall 2012)?

The 600 mi service is probably the most important one. Have you changed the oil at lleast once during the 3000 mi?

That oil must be nasty. Just change the oil and you should be okay for the most part.

Alright, I wonder if I can do it myself? What about the chains and bolts and what not? All are okay?

At least change the oil then either take it in to have all botls torqued down or do that your self, there is something like 200 bolts that need to be tighted up. don't want that s**t coming apart at 80 miles an hour

If you take it in it will cost $250 to have it all done, but at least you would now that everything have been inspected and tightened

sounds like you're not too mechanically inclined. chains are supposed to be cleaned/lubed regularly. (every 400 miles per the manual)

These bikes are somewhat forgiving, but you need to get on maintenance ASAP. motorcycles aren't as forgiving as most cars. forgetting to do preventative maintenance can result in catastrophic failure, resulting in a crash.

I suppose it'll be safe enough to ride to the dealership. So just give them a call, tell them what I need, and go in and pay. I wonder how it'll ride after.

My bad, I'm not at all.

you should be fine... should. just get it to someone asap, or get to a shop to buy the stuff to do it yourself.

then read up on the diy maintenance items. it's not worth it to take your bike into the shop often to clean and lube your chain, it's something that can easily be done in 10 mins in your driveway. Even the oil change is quite simple. It'll be up to you to decide what you're comfortable with.
