dried out washer on windscreen?
I just noticed the other day my rubber washer that holds the windscreen bolts in, is all dried out and cracked. does anyone else have this problem?
I ordered a new windscreen, and now i have to order these rubber washers. The bike is a little over a year old. Does this happen often with rubber washers?? Can you guys check your bikes to see if this has happened to you? |

yeah, the wellnuts are really junk on these bikes. if you see the diy by kkim on his windscreen install, you will see that his ripped too.
one of my windscreen ones ripped and i think 2 of my fairings ones also. as recommended by one of the members here, i bought some replacement m5 wellnuts, but haven't tried them to see if they are actually the correct ones. |

I always armor-al all the rubber stuff to keep it from getting brittle (not tires or grips).

doesn't that stuff dry it out more eventually? is there anything else i can use to put on the rubber besides that? not a bad idea to lube it up.

If armor-al has carbolic acid in it, it will help the rubber from drying up and becoming brittle.

Yep, this has happened to me plenty of times. I ordered new ones the first time I removed my side fairings and they fell out. About the same time i was waiting for these well nuts to be shipped i discovered that all motorcycle dealerships have packs of them for sale. doh! go to a shop and pick up a bunch so you'll always have spares on hand.

Armoral will help them out, but they are still really weak and can get ripped if not handled with finesse.
