Whats the Shelf-Life of Oil?

Im looking to buy enuff Rotella T 5w40 (2 gals maybe) for enuff to last me like 2 seasons of oil changes! I figure oil prices will climb more, and who knows... maybe next year the price on it will be $10 more a Gal.
(That might not be a big deal, but hey in these times, that $20 saved (for example) over 2 Gals, and thats like another Tank of Gas to ride through the Twisties with!

So if i buy afew Gals, and lets say 3-4 years from now, i go to use my last Gal. of Rotella T... will the Oil be less performing then if i bought it 'Fresh' from the store (saying it only sat on walmarts shelf for 1 week, prior to me buying it) ya know what i mean?

sorry TYPO Title, lol ahem... " Shelf-Life "

I believe I've read oil will keep years if stored in an unopened container.

ExxonMobil recommends a five year maximum shelf-life for engine oils, including Mobil 1.
thats per their website. maybe R&D says it lasts 10, but marketing says 5. in any event 2 seasons is not long at all.

A friend of mine had a Spectro sponsorship. they gave him more products than any 1 person could ever use in a season and we would use 2-3 yr old oil that he gave us and never had a problem. also that was conventional 10w40.
