CA folks: buy the ultimate small bore street bike!
Well, I can't swing it right now. But if I had the dough I would buy this. The owner was holding off people at thunder hill in A group this past Saturday on her track only aprilia rs125. Everything is legit and it has current tags.
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/mcy/3968620940.html I rode it and we dropped the motor out of the frame to clean it up. Feel free to pm me too about it. |

Nice looking bike, but it belongs on a track, not a street. . .

Noob question but you'd have to carry around some oil with you if you went on longish rides yes?

i would think so especially because you would not want to put your generic gas station 2stroke oil in it.

Getting this bike street legal is extremely expensive and difficult. This is a major headache saver and price drop for what you're getting. |

You cant make it street legal...its two-stroke. At least hear in Georgia, they wont even consider tagging an Aprilla two-stroke bike.

Nope. Right under the tail piece is a two stroke oil injection pump connected to a large oil tank. It holds enough oil for four or five gas tanks worth. No mixing gas or any of that required. Oil injection takes car of ratios and all of that. Just keep both gas tank and oil tank full and you're good to go. The oil tank has easy access with a key lock under the seat.

Whats the big deal about it? Just the light weight? How fast can it go where the guy is saying you will giggle going past litre bikes. How is that possible?

You aren't familiar with two strokes I see haha. Two strokes use an expansion chamber in the middle of the exhaust to create a suction. The pipe right off the exhaust port of the motor is skinny, the pipe crescendos into a very wide and round part (expansion chamber) then goes to a skinny part. This creates a suction that becomes exponentially stronger as rpms rise. This creates an almost supercharger like effect. That's why 2 strokes are very peaky in power delivery. Before a certain rpm the motor isn't benefitting from the acoustic suction from the exhaust. At 9k rpm this 125 makes literally twice the hp before hand.
This arrow race exhaust weighs a little over 7 lbs and the expansion chamber is hidden the body work. Go look at motogp exhausts. The tips look similar in small size wise. |

I've owned an aprilia rs125, trust me, as stock, the ninja 250 is faster, and more importantly, more usable.
Rs125's are a budget naff bike that 16 year old kids use till they are allowed something bigger, I have no idea where the mythical status of them being some litre bike killer has come from, but any 600 would wipe the floor with a 125 in pretty much every aspect with the small exception of cornering, where a good 600 would be about the same. |

It's a 125cc 2 stroke, street legal repli-racer. It's considerably lighter than a ninja250, similar power, with a better suspension.
Maybe think of it as a supersport 125. |

Just compare the two
http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bi...-2008-current/ http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bi...-2006-current/ The ninja 250 has 17 more hp, more torque and is 1.5 seconds faster on the quarter mile. The aprilia is lighter, but not faster. |

Just do a quick search on a popular 125cc sport bike forum and you will find that people get them tuned to 30HP easy, and if you want to go the extra mile and put a big bore kit on it and have a pro work on it they get in to the mid 30's even high 30's
I don't know how you figure a derestricted 125 2 stroke only makes 15hp? 125cc 2 stroke mx bikes make in the 30 hp range no problem. My wifes 125 4stroke kids bike makes 15hp. There are a few vids of rs125's beating ninjas in races, or quick sprints which have been posted before, but have not found a vid of a ninja250 beating an rs125. On top of the OP even stats that he has seen a guy that races one do great in a pack of 250's and i find it hard to believe he would be doing this with only 15hp.

This quote, which is used on many an occassion, is usually encountered when riding with others who can not actually ride. It is good for the ego of riders with smaller ..... (bikes).
