Crankshaft rotational direction

Is the crankshaft rotational direction clockwise or counterclockwise on a 2008 ex250? Thanks

It depends on from which side you are looking.

Turn the crankshaft only counter-clockwise.
You can rotate it using a tool via the plug on the left cover of the engine.

Welcome, Bob !!!

think of it this way, on nearly every 4 stroke engine, the exhaust end (front) pulls from top to bottom. so if you're on the left hand (clutch side) of the bike, its counter clockwise. if you're on the right hand (throttle side) its rotating clockwise.

Crank rotation

Crazy, because the book incorrectly states to rotate it clockwise. Scary!

Old mechanic here. If direction of rotation is unclear, dont dick around with timing.
Chain tensioner is on the side where chain travels up, the other side is the pulling side.
