Oil change issue?

I just did a oil change, Used a K&N filter changed both O rings and filled it up using the recommended amount. I look at the window and nothing is showing up.

What could this be? Bike has 400 miles on it this is my third oil change first time this has happened.

Is it standing straight up or on the side stand, stand it up straight then look.

It was 100% vertical just like it says in Kkims oil change instructions, This is the first time i have used the K&n filter could that have something to do with it?

Edit If i tilt the bike to the right just a bit the window starts to fill up. Which leads me to think i dont have enough oil. But i used the recommended amount and dont want to over fill it.

I trust my gut, I don't like that little window, I use K&N filter also, as long as I have put the proper amount of oil in, the engine sounds right, and there is no leak I trust it, the window is just a little hokey for me.

How much did you put in? What oil filters did you use in your last two oil changes?

Gosh now i am all confused. I put in 1 qt and put in another one to the 300ml left line.

Which means if my math is correct. And tell me if this is wrong.

The recommended 1.8 Quarts is equal to 1703.44 Milliliters

With each quart containing around 946 Ml My math tells me i put in with 300ml left in the bottle around 1592 ML which comes out to 1.68 Quarts.

Does this sound right? lol i think i am just thinking about this to much....

I say if it's not leaking keep adding, I have had similar crap with oil levels happen to me more than once, trust the window over volume used

you're thinking too much. fill up the oil till it's in the sight glass window with the bike sitting level and vertical and you're done.

remember to start the bike up after you do that and let the oil circulate. stop the engine and check the level again after a few minutes. top off if needed.

I have done 4 oil changes now and I've seen this same issue. Like another said, after the initial fill, I idle the bike for about 2 minutes to circulate. Then I shut it off, wait 2 minutes, then check the oil. After the initial fill it usually is not showing in the sight glass (yes, while vertical).

After this I go through a process of adding 100 ml at a time, then repeating the whole idle & shut off exercise. It usually takes about 3-5 cycles of this to get the sight glass showing oil. Also BTW I consider it done when the oil is a little above the lower limit line. I find out that a day later (for some reason) the oil is higher in the sight glass, which would still put it below the upper limit line.

One time when I was changing it I was doing the same math thing as you and it started to drive me crazy, so I just ended up relying on the sight glass...

Heck, by some standards on this board he should be to his 8th or 9th oil change by now. (personally, I go by the manual on this one...)
