Angry 2012 Spark Plug Issue

Removed old spark plugs to replace with new ones. Now, one side is stripped, will not tighten, and is losing compression. Can anybody verify that i need a 10mm x 1.25 insert to rethread with Helicoil...or a better suggestion to fix? Should the head be removed or replaced or can i helicoil with head on? So stressed out.....

Pretty sure it's 10x1mm. Helicoils aren't that strong. I recommend Time-serts 10mm plug repair

I always take the head off if I strip sparkplug threads (on various motors), some say it can be done with head on without getting drilling metal in the motor but I've found most times there isn't enough room to drill and tap with the head on, and you don't wonder how much metal fell into the cylinder. I don't even get a new head gasket unless it's bad, I paint it with copper or aluminum paint and put it together before the paint dries, I've yet to get a leaker doing this. (all surfaces cleaned well) I always take the head to a machine shop to have it repaired, never done the do it yourself kits.

and always put anti seize on the plug threads when you have an aluminum head!!!

And screw in the plugs by hand for at least 4-5 threads ...

Anti Seize

NGK does not recommended anti seize. Over torqueing can occur and cause thread damage.

Use anti-seize - and skip the torque wrench.

You just need to learn what "snug" is. 3/8" drive ratchet and don't grip it all the way at the end...

I keep typing why they put that warning, and why you should still use anti-seize; I also keep deleting it

Non aluminum parts going into aluminum should have anti-seize so close to always that I type always; but that's just my thoughts and training

My friends at Lucas Aviation says every single bolt they use on planes has to have either lube/anti-seize or locking-compound and torque recorded. Never bare threads.
