Rear shock
Not blown, New gen (preferred) or pre gen rear shock wanted.
Finally was able to ride my new to me bike the other day and the rear shock goes down and doesn't want to come back up. |

Joel, you probably know, but the pregen and newgen rear shocks are not the same. The newgen ones have a stiffer spring. An inexpensive way to improve the rear suspension of a pregen is to get an eBay newgen shock and install it. I did this to mine and it quit bottoming out on bumps. You sure wouldn't to go the other way, but it looks like you have a pregen 250.
My eBay newgen shock was $25 delivered. |

I have a 09 Newgen shock with about 8k miles on it. It needs cleaned up a little but functions well. I would let it go for $20. Shoot me a PM.

If shock compresses but doesn't extend, there's problem with linkage or swingarm. Such as bushings being incorrect width and you're actually clamping on the eyelets.

That was what was happening. Bike had sat for 9 years. I sprayed some penetration oil on it and it freed up the bind. Still want a new gen shock for 2up riding.

I'm sure you know, but if it was sticking, you need to disassemble, clean, and lube the linkage.
