Aftermarket mirrors with turns signals

Ok. So I bought some aftermarket mirrors equipped with turn signals in them. I had contacted a local dealer to see if it was possible to order turn signal harness pig tails. I was planning on trying to make a decent attempt on wiring these up and at least make them look like belong (using solder) instead of some cheap but connectors and tape, ect.

Anyways, when I told the guy at the dealer about what I was trying to do, he told me that (which I figured he was trying to get me to bring it in so they could work on it) I would have to bring the bike in and let them do it because "they would have to add in resistors and change up the whole harness otherwise the harness would not be able to handle the extra load". To me that did not make sense about the resistors and it is not like I am trying to wire up something that is going to draw great amounts of amps or voltage. I figured I could 3-way splice into the turn signals on the side and run wire up to the mirrors and make a plug.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Has anyone does this before?

If you have LED turn-signals, you need to add ballast resistors in parallel with them to increase load and draw more power for the flasher-relay to work properly. Along with the turn-signal indicator on dash. However, this is only if you are replacing turn signals with LED.

You can order the appropriate connectors here: http://easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__...onnectors.html

If you want to connect them in Y-configuration in parallel with factory turn-signals, then no resistors needed and is simplest method.

Thanka a lot for that link. I've been trying find those for ever. I had also bought side and rear LED turn signals as well as a LED stop light. Would I still need to add resistors for all of those?

Or you can get LED flasher relay and not worry about resistors. However, you'!ll need diode kit if you have all LED turn signals.

Or Tridon EP34 relay
