Double Bubble or Sport Touring
Hey folks,
Looking for some advice on upgrading my wind screen. I definitely want to darken it up from the stock clear but at the same time after doing a bunch of hwy riding think I would like to see about getting a little more wind break. Defenitely no issue with moving up to a double bubble but dont mind the look of the sport touring if it is going to provide some additional protection from the wind. Two questions, first can I get some opinions of both from a performance point of view and second has anyone got any good shots of their bike with either or especially the sport touring to see if I am OK with the much higher look? Thanks for all the help! |

I have the db and st screens. In a full tuck behind the st you get very little wind noise. Both screens look good and you would get used to the st screens higher profile.

I personally went with a double bubble as I didn't care for the look of the sport touring. However, if you are looking for actual wind protection... the double bubble only offers a slight improvement over stock. That being said, if you like the look of the sport touring it would definitely be a much better bet for wind protection. just my .02

i have the touring. I personally find the double bubbles more esthetically appealing but the touring helps pushing the wind higher so i barely feel it. here's a couple of pics to show you what it looks like.

Thanks! Great pictures the Sport Touring looks good on your bike! I'm leaning that way for more wind protection/deflection. I'll order something later this week and see if there are any other comments. As you are in Canada too, where did you order yours from?

Honestly, I found the DB to be FAR superior to the stock screen. Wind hits you right above the helmet with the DB versus square in the chest with the OEM.

Well I have read all the related threads I could and looked at all the pictures. Definitely looks like the ST will work better for obvious reasons but definitely the DB looks more sleek and better on the bike in my opinion and my 13 year old said no when I showed him the ST pictures!!! LOL
Mike if you dont mind me asking how tall are you? Thanks! |

ST is like an ugly wife who is willing to give it to you anytime. DB is like a fine model...you may not get want you want but oh so damn fine

Being 6 feet tall, the ST pushes the wind up to my chin on the helmet. It's an improvement for long hauls, I have to tuck quite a bit to get rid of the wind completely, but thats just part of the ride, unless I get a touring bike.
Also, I like the look of the ST, it's like an angry cartoon eye pose.

ST vs DB...
well first off, how TALL are you? If 5' 9" The DB helps but only raises the air hitting you by 2-4"s. ST i dunno, i only have the DB! but if you live in a colder area, like me in Michigan, for Winter... during Oct.-Nov. & March-April... the ST will work better at keeping the air off your chest for less windchilling effects! = Warmer rides. Also... you MUST consider this... DB or ST... will affect your helmets WIND NOISE!!! my DB seems to push "dirty" turbulent air up my chin and under my helmet, creating more Buffering noise in it. my Stock windscreen seemed to make less wind noise in my helmet, but the 2-4" higher wind pushing on my chest, helped made highway riding speeds over distances, alil less tiring!!! The ST might push the "dirty" turbulent air into your Visor and thus, making your helmets noise LESS, vs DB or Stock! Also, consider if you 2-UP ride!!! The aerodynamics completely change! When i 2-UP with my GF, on the highway @ 65-70 MPH, i get a weird Buffering from under my helmet. It pushes my head side to side at a fast rate, as if i was watching a Tennis Match....if you will! IMO, the ST might offer better wind protection for ppl under 5'9". But if your like 5'11" +, it might give your helmet a weird buffering bouncing your head around like a Bobblehead!!! If you got money... IMHO, try ordering both, a ZG DB & ST windscreen! www.zgoutlet.com is a good place! Then ride with one on, then switch to the other one! Compare the Pros-Cons yourself! |

LOL Great posts everyone, thanks. Well I am 6' and of course all the money in the world until my wife sees two packages for essentially the same thing (I get the deatials she won't!!) arrive at the house aand then I got no money!!
I'm going to take a couple more hwy rides and then make a decision, as I said not just so sure of the loks of the ST. Thanks for the helmet wind noise comments I had heard that somewhwere else too and it was good to be confirmed by our all knowlwedgeable board! PS Got in from an errand this afternoon moments before the deluge hit outta no where! |

I got mine from zg outlet on ebay thanks to g21-30. Total price shipped was $75 ($44 + $25 shipping to canada + taxes)
The best thing about zg outlet is that they declared a minimum price value for the product so i didn't have to pay duties. The windshield was flawless when i got it.

DB all the way the ST is the bastard step child of the windscreens. Only a few people love it.

I'm 6', and probably have more highway miles than city, never had an issue with the stock screen, and it doesn't make your bike look like a retarded wannabe touring bike...

Really?! I'm only 5'2" and my helmet starts bobbling around if the wind is hitting me from a certain direction! There must be a sweet spot higher up that I can't reach, I guess.

I had the ST, and loved it. The looks even grow on you after a little bit. I'm 5'10" and it got me out of the wind pretty well. It normally hit around eye level, but was smooth, and no buffeting. With a little tuck I could get completely out of the wind, which was great for those 30F trips.

I'm 6' 2" and have the stock screen. I pretty much have to tuck because if I don't, I get blown around like a sail boat. I'll probably stick with the stock screen anyway, since I have to tuck to remain comfortable at 70+. Tucking actually seems comfortable for my upperbody, it's my legs that get cramped... maybe I'm doing it wrong.

I have the DB and it does improve the air flow over me a bit I'm 5'10", a slight tuck in and the wind isn't much of a problem. With the stock screen at highway speeds I would get some buffeting on my shoulders but now not so much. Here's some pics to...

I am considering getting the ST version. The stock windscreen is really kicking my butt from all the whiplash from doing my lane checks on the highway. I do a lot of freeway riding and commutes and sit up riding. I'm about 5'11" with a good reach and get the wind below my shoulders.

At 5'11, I don't think you're getting out of the wind. I have the ST, and at 6', and it pushes the wind almost up past my shoulders. Better than stock, I like it, but I'm just too tall to hide from the wind.

6'1" here and the stock screen wind hit me about chest/shoulder height feeling like it was pushing me off the bike above 70.
I got the ZG BD screen and it pushes the air to top of helmet now in normal riding postion, above 70 it's no problem now to ride. My head does wobble a bit, but I figured it was due to my helmet being so big and round. Any type of tuck and I get completely out of wind, and it really quiets the ride down w/ almost no wind noise. I think the ST screen would push air completely over me w/o a tuck, but I just can't get into the look of it. |

I've got the ST as looks are SOooo secondary to me. But I LOVE it. I hit 60mph on the freeway before the wind hits my face and I'm reminded my visors still up. I get zero buffeting unless I'm RIGHT behind a semi-truck. It's quite, and when it rains, as long as I keep the speed up, I hardly get wet. Of course I've never tried the DB, so it might be just as awesome.

Yeah I plan on picking up both. ZG ST and a Chinese DB. Clip-ons would help a bit seeing how I have a long reach. The windscreens are cheaper at the moment.

I use both ZG
I have a blue ZG DB when riding around or less then 200 miles.
When I go on longer trips I switch to a black (not lite smoke) touring ZG screen. I will switch and take a picture or the Touring on the bike. |

everyone has been talking about wind noise, but what about MPG? Has there been any effect on MPG? I am 5'6" and have been thinking the DB, the touring is a bit too tall for me, but after riding an sv650(naked) this is a lot better. if it will improve mpg, i can get the WAF(wife approval factor)

It will only help gas mileage if the air is now hitting the rider, acting as a brake, the DB would change the level the air hits the rider and hopefully make it more streamline.
I would think this affect taller rides more. |

ZG Double Bubble vs. Sport Touring
Ive already asked about ST windscreens once or twice, and this will be my last post about it....
I want some wind reduction when riding on the highways (70-85mph), so i need a new windscreen. i was going to go with a ST, but ive heard the DB gets the job done as well. my only concern is i just purchased a tank bag, so i will not be able to tuck as much. any opinions/pictures/girls phone #s would be appreciated. again, sorry for the multiple threads, i just want to avoid buying the wrong screen and having to deal with returns. |

Something else to consider. If you intend to add a GPS or phone charger/mount above the dash but protected by the windscreen, the ST gives that extra space. Just FYI.
