Riding pants with Shorts?
Hello all,
New rider starting to get all my gear together and was wondering if anyone had any experience or recommendations for riding pants...Most important I am looking for something with decent protection that I could throw over a pair of shorts. Thanks. |

Just about any of the textiles are good. there are loads of options. I recomend something that has a zip out linner and is mesh. that way it is cool in the heat and can be made dry and warm in the cold.

Around town or commuting:
REV'IT Turbine or Sand. Great quality, high abrasion resistant material (1000D cordura in impact areas), protection everywhere, multiple layers to last you year round (if you're in the south/s west for the turbine). Well worth the money. Cheap entry level overpant option: Icon hooligan. Basic protection, CE knee pads. They're sized BIG, order your normal pant size or a size down if you're wearing non bulky pants/shorts. Aggressive riding / track: Invest in leather and change pants at your destination. |

I bought some Speed and Strength textile pants. While they are alright, I later regretted not getting leathers. No accident or anything, but I've seen a lot of videos where people in textiles still get torn up.
I later just got my 1 piece suit lol. Big jump eh? Try to find a pair of Shift leather pants. Since Shift went out, you should be able to find them on closeout SUPER cheap (like sub 200). That was what I was going to go with, but I couldn't find any in my size

Leather. If its hot, perforated leather. Look for a set that also has a jacket to go with it, that can zip together. Say no to parachute pants

Oooooh, you're just riding on the street! Well hell, in that case, just run with the shorts. I'd go with sandals vs flip flops too... if you put your foot down on gum at an intersection a flip flop might get left there.

To put it a bit less sarcastically, riding in the street is probably more dangerous than most tracks. You don't exactly have cross traffic on the track.

Tried on a couple pants today...
Joe rocket alter ego, leaning towards these, seem quite versatile. Also tired on some shift pants that were part leather part textile...Shift Havoc. Are these gonna be deadly hot? Didn't look like they had any vents. Anyone have any experience with these pants? |

Didn't we just do this? Oh right...springtime...
Motoport Ultra cordura overpants Kevlar overpants Rev-it turbine pants Coolest will be the Turbines...they rule when it bakes. Most protective, the Motoport Kevlars...especially with the upgraded armor. Most bang for the buck...Motoport Cordura.
