Damn, laguna seca is fun. I tried to sign up for C group but they were like nah man, you're gna be in B group. Ok So the format was sighting lap then a 45 minute session, followed by class time, 45 minute session, class time, 45 minute session, class time, walk the track (pics and vid!!!), 30 minute open session.

I didn't do much one on one today but I did learn alot in the class room time. Now that I have a good feel for the track I'll get one on one time tomorrow. After the body positioning class which was the last class and before the 30 minute open session, I dragged some hard parts. Good news, since I switched to the bohemian racing rearsets I haven't dragged my pegs. The first thing I dragged was this

Then I dragged this

And finally I dragged this

Oops! Leaned a little to far

Dragging my knee was kinda scary, but then it was fun. I would have done it some more but a guy on a feel like a pro bike rossi'd the corkscrew and the track got shut down for a while. With only 10 minutes left in the session I didn't have enough time to get back up to temp and get comfortable to drag again.

Well theres always tomorrow.

When we walked the track they had the rider coaches ride by to show us what it looks like. I got some cool pics on my iphone

At this point I'm only dragging my knee because its fun. I can pull my leg in an inch or so and not drag but I want to wear down these sliders haha. After lunch the sun should be out so we'll get a nice dry track. It was wet the first session and started drying off in the second session.

I got some good feedback on my BP. One instructor ninjad behind me for a couple laps then pulled me off and talked to me about getting my head down. We went out for 3-4 more laps and he pulled me off and said I'm 100% better.

I find it sorta hard to get my head down, I think it'd be easier on a supersport. My handlebars are high and the bike is small especially for someone my size so getting my chest onto the tank is very difficult. If I go all the way down it interferes with my throttle control. I hope the photographer took some pics, I'm curious to see what I look like

Ok... fine,

I am going to tell you one of the most "Secretest of Secrets" tm of the ninja lol

Here is what you do;

Take off the visor of your helmet
Go to you local wal-mart and pick up some red stickers in the shape of a small circle (about as big as your ring finger fingernail should do)
Place the stickers on the far sides of your visor about the 3/4 up from the bottom but within your field of vision

Go for a ride.... sit back and laugh at what happens to your eyes compared to what normally happens. This is the difference between where FAST riders look and your average rider's view of the world.

Aight, heres the video. My 3 fastest laps which were all 2:06. That's only 16 seconds slower than @rojoracing53!! You might say Sean, 16 seconds is alot, well **** you, no one wants your misguided opinion

Yes I know I shouldn't get off the gas so early going into turn 2. Yes I know I should upshift to 5th going into turn 5. Yes I know I'm really ****ing terrible about accelerating up until my brake point and could probably shave off 10 seconds if I would.

Other feedback is much appreciated!

I do have butt cam footage but I'm ****ing tired so hold the **** up and I'll edit it later, ****.

Video will be uploaded one hour from this post.

First thought at 0:05 was why is he coasting into turn two

Second thought damn Jiggles is getting a lot faster, this is almost bearable to watch unlike that go kart video. No really this was way better then anything else you've done during other track days.

Third though WHY IS HE NOT USING ALL THE TRACK ON THE EXITS! dude really you need to force yourself to use the correct line all the time that way your current exit speed feels way to slow, then you will feel the need to get on the gas earlier and harder. Same with braking, get using to braking at 100% all the time that way when you come to a complete stop on track before even getting to the turn you'll be like "damn maybe I should have gone for that #2 marker instead of the #5. Also its gas or brake on the track there's no coasting, so when your off the gas you need to get on the brakes and vise versa.

I know you already know all this and I know its easier said then done but this is yet another redundant reminder and don't worry as long as your still improving(you are) then just keep at it.

Damn is it just me or is your bike a lot fast down the straits? Grab a couple point on the front and back straits and compare our videos to see how much faster your going if at all. Your bike faster but I'm also exiting the corner nearly 5-10mph faster to start.

Turn two took me a long time to get used to. In my last couple of laps I get off the gas later. I just need more practice with brake markers, which I don't use

Honestly, I didn't feel much faster. I figured I was doing 2:20s and then the one time I timed myself I did a 2:08 and was like oh ****, I am faster! Now I wna go back to Sonoma and see how many seconds I can shave off of my old time.

Your third thought, keigwins encouraged us to use tighter lines that left room for error so in case we did **** something up we wouldn't go off track. Their theory is if you practice a tighter line you'll be more capable of using them to pass

I think the one thing I can improve on the most is braking. I find it difficult to brake to the correct speed and then get on the gas. Later in day two I started getting better and experimented with trail braking. I like trail braking because you don't have to get to your corner speed before the corner, you can continue to brake until you get to the spee you want in the corner and then get on the gas, long as your smooth.

Yea my bike might be faster, you should get yours dyno'd. I'd say if you have under 30hp then I have a significant advantage

This is another secret of the ninja, it's one of the few tangible signs of a skill upgrade and your ready to push the pace a bit more. In your case, pick braking markers and USE THEM! When you start to FULLY trust in your ability to get the bike to a controlled speed on entry, the whole track changes. Or simply stated; when you learn to trust your brakes.

Jason called it 100% spot on imho. When you don't feel faster, normally you are.
