I feel like "tricking" out a bike with the same mods everyone else has just kind of defeats the purpose of making it yours.

Other than performance mods, I don't tend to see any real creative ones around here.

If I was to mod out my bike, I'd make it some anachronistic racer and change out things like the headlight, seat, paint job. Of course....keep your stock parts so someone will still buy it off you later!

Be sure to ask Santa for a swingarm stand and a front stand that lifts the bike by the triples. Those things can be darn useful for doing maintenance.

I know what you mean, I like to be different too but since this is my first bike I'm taking it step by step and learning whats out there... Starting with the "easy mods"
Not as many options as a Harley.

I would say,

Warm gears...
It will be your best ally to add a month or two of riding around. Let me tell you it wasn't very hot this morning on the island...

Then I would go with a fork tuning with the race tech gold valves and the right spring for your weight.
Very nice thing you have, with all those holes and cracks in the streets of our ''belle Province". You can ride without always bottoming the front...

By the way, where in Montreal are you living? Buy your avatar, I would say, you ride a black one, is that right?

A corbin seat. It actually lowers the ride height without touching the suspension. I noticed your intro thread . Pretty comfortable once broken in as well.

My bike is already stored.... no more riding this year. its too cold.
I just got my bike this summer and i dont even have my full licence yet.
I'll get more comfortable riding it the way it is before going for performance tweaks.
but that will be in my futur to buy list.
thanks
yea I have a black 2011 and i live in ville st-laurent area

I'll try shaving it first but if anything fails... i'll look into that corbin seat.
is it 1 inch lower than the original seat?

I don't know if it's 1" lower. Even with the stock seat, I could flat foot easily. The corbin seat is also narrower, so that helps too.

Braided brake lines & EBC HH pads up front

HEL Lines are very well made & they have a set to fit the 250 (none of this have the guy in the store cut a set to your length & screw in adaptors, they're factory fitted & ready to install)

Torque wrench, socket set & hex key sockets

Yes, it's a great read with a lot of techniques that will improve all aspects of your riding. You don't have to marathon-read the book, it's good once in a while to go through a chapter and they are short with plenty of pictures and diagrams.

My christmas ninja wishlist includes a set of leathers. Right now I'm waffling between the Speed and Strength Twist of Fate 2.0 and a set of Kobe leathers. I just need to try some on. That's all.

I don't think the pilot powers will fit a newgen. (I think you have a new gen) Here is a website showing available tires:
http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/J_Tires

Might I suggest Pirelli Sport Demon

Clipons will make it more difficult for you to learn how to ride the bike because they force you to lean forward. I suggest holding off on those until you can support your upper body with your core consistently with zero weight on the bars.

Might I suggest riding lessons? gas/petrol fund?

I applaud your enthusiasm!

oh hmmmm thanks for the advice on the clip ons... I'll look into it.
For the tires I thought those fit in the new gens....
because I wanted to go wider on the front and back.
On the pirelli website I dont see the tire size I wanted.

The size Pirelli's that fit are:
Front: 110/70-17 Rear: 130/70-17

Check fitment before you purchase wider tires. Wider tires will also change the handling characteristics of the bike, including rate of tip into a lean. To me that is one of the primary attributes of the 250 that I like. People call it "flick-ability"

Seriously you have no idea how much a set of braided brake lines will improve the braking feel, they're probably the best value mod you can do on any bike (that or having someone who knows their stuff set up the suspension for you).

Sorry for the beginners question
but would it really change the way it handle by adding 20mm on the tire?
I just thought going 150/60 id gain 10mm on height also...
