Hello from the NE corner of TN

Hey!
I can't help but wonder how I'll be received here after I explain why I joined. 1st though, a little about myself. I'm a Sr. Citizen who's been into bikes since getting my 1st one, a Kaw 175 street bike back in '69. Since then, I've had the good fortune to have ridden in about 48 states and have owned and wrenched on well over 75 bikes.
I joined the forum because I'd like some advice on a project I'm considering. I have an old RD350 motor that I've owned since the mid 70's. I'd like to install it in a small Ninja, if possible.
I sure hope my idea doesn't result in my getting banned or flamed. I guess only time will tell.
Now ya have it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Willie

Hi Willie, it's good to meet you. No problem with your project. I've seen Kaw triple engines and Banshee engines in Ninja 250 frames, so you're not the first. I sincerely hope that when you get it done, you take it to the annual 2-stroke meet at Deals Gap. I'll be there to appreciate it.

I have a Ninja 250, and also a couple other bikes, including the '72 H2 I bought in '78, so you can see I appreciate 2-strokes.

I appreciate the welcomes and attitude. Since, joining, I've done a little more online searching and have found a few sites with mention of this project having been done before along with a few pics and videos.
That said, and without starting an appropriate thread, I guess my 1st question is: with regard to brakes and suspension, is there a particular yr, or range of yrs, that are more desirable than others?

Welcome!

I'm not far from you. I recently saw an ad for a Ninja 250 cafe bike with an RD350 motor in it on the local craigslist. Let me know if you need any welding help.

Ride on,

J~

That's a friend of mine, down in Rock Hill, SC. He's always at the 2-stroke meets, although that video is old and he doesn't have that bike any more. His (our) friend Nick is the one with the Banshee powered Ninja.

Pregens are known for softly sprung suspension, whereas newgens are better in that regard, but it's easy to put a newgen rear shock/spring in, and new springs in the front to fix pregens. Newgens have 17" wheels, which helps with tire choices.
