The 400 has been out for a few years, but has only been available in a few markets where there are tax advantages compared to a larger bike. As far as I know, it's a clone of the Ninja 650, with a sleeved down version of that engine to get it near 400cc.

Was is the right word... It was canceled in 2013 with the new 300...

Like Alex said it was a clone of the 650 (the previous design) with the sleeved down engine...

It could have been a winner in or our province (Québec) since the motorcycles (non supersport) under 401cc have lower registration fees. 351$ vs 557$ (over 401cc non suspersport) vs. 1 117$ (over 401 cc supersport)

But with the 300, the power to weight ratio was slightly better, so I think they pulled the plug on the 400.

They updated the styling to match the new 650s. My guess is that it will be offered in markets where the ninjette is still a 250.

they made the right choice on the 300 compare to the 400. Just because 300 is more sporty, sure enough 400 is faster 300 has more aggressive look and riding position!

You're right on that point, but the 400, being bigger, would have been more confortable (more space, bigger seat, grab handles) when riding two-up with my gal. For the rest, I'm way happier on my 250...
